Goldeneye Dam Mission and Final Fantasy IV Easy Type English Translation

And now, for the first real news post since the site's revival. First of all, I've started a new Goldeneye mission, this one taking place in Dam:




Dam has always been one of my favorite missions in the original game, a lot of people seem to overlook it when they make a list of the best missions in the game for some reason. The beginning of my mission plays similarly but the second half plays entirely different and involves disarming bombs placed inside the dam.


Up second is news that I've resumed work on my Final Fantasy IV Easy Type translation. Some of you may remember that I released this a few years back, it's not an accurate translation in any way and I'd like to correct that. The screenshots below show about three days worth of progress, there's still a lot of little things that need to be done before I can release it but all the important things are translated.




Basically what I want to do is put out a preliminary patch, something similar to the original but accurate, before putting out a higher-quality patch.

I always loved the Facility, personally. That might because of the multiplayer fun with it, but I dunno. The guard rails look pretty good, though I'm not sure a picture of Bond on the monitors is the right one to use. :tongue:

Facility's definitely one of my favorites, I don't think I'll do any new missions for it though. As for the Bond monitor, that's just the default image before you assign one to it, I haven't decided what I want on them yet.

FFOrigins did that, and it annoys the crap out of me.

I don't care what you call the spells (you could call Meteor "Orgasm" for all I care), so long as there's no Cure1, Life1, Fire1 Ice1, and Bolt1...

But I digress...
Though I haven't played Goldeneye, that looks pretty good, and great  job on the FF4ET progress. :happy:

I think FF4A has confused people to some degree. Some of them expect -ra -ga -ja instead of what the original spells were...

I'm not expecting radagajanasatayawafalalalalalalalala, I just don't like it when the most basic Cure, Fire, Ice, Bolt, and Life spells are called "Cure1", "Fire1", "Ice1", "Bolt1", and "Life1".

But I see that once again it was a mistake for me to post. Whatever.

There's a number of spells in other games where the "1" distinction is important... like 7th Saga. It's easier to go with the flow...  :cookie:

Y'know, I probably mainly don't like it when 1's on the end of a basic spell because of a problem I had with it as a child.
Rosa had just learned Life1, and I thought, "Oh, well then there must be a line of Life spells like Life1, Life2, Life3, Life4, like the Cure spells-- Cure1, Cure2, Cure3, Cure4".
While I had played a little of FF6 before FF4 (PSX), I hadn't any access to the Life spells before I gave up (Damn you Vargas... *cough*), so I didn't know there were only 2 Life spells. So I decided to level up a bit to get Life2, seeing that Life1 was just Phoenix Downs with an MP cost. So I leveled... And leveled... and leveled...
And I didn't grind much in those days, so it was a huge pain in the ass for me.

Eventually, at level 36 or somesuch, we finally got a computer, so I decided to see just what level Rosa learns her next Life spell, 'cuz this sure as hell was taking a long time.

It was, as many of you know, level 52. This caused me to break the controller and scream at myself over my stupidity.

Ah, the good ol' days, when you were a stupid little kid... :bah:

Those style names were used for FF4. They switched over to numbers for Easy Type.
