There's been some discussion about not using 0xFF in item names, since it cuts off the "Found..." dialogue when opening treasure chests. Dragonsbrethren suggested using 0x15, which is the space character. I tried using this, however, and got the following result (see attached image). 0x15 works fine in dialogue boxes, but the item list is messed up for me. (This is true in both v1.0 and v1.1.) Conversely, 0xFF works fine in the item list and when equipping, but cuts off when in dialogue boxes. What's the work-around?

That looks like it's trying to draw DTE. Is DTE enabled everywhere?

You can't use $15 any place in an item name except for the icon because the Japanese DTE is still loaded for the menu text. The easiest way to fix it is to just pick any tile after the alphabet and make a new blank space, I use $F6 in my hack.

I thought I had tried that, and it ended up with a transparent space (one that shows the background), but I just tried it again, and it worked this time. I don't know what I did last time. In any case, I'm glad it worked. Thanks, Dragonsbrethren.

In TLP color any empty space with all green in GB 2bpp mode and use that character.  Problem solved.  I need to fix this myself.  lol
