Really, the only difference in the first one is that I deleted the pointer duplicate, shrinking the total size of the SPC data.

I tried that.  Maybe I need to try it again.

The better question is do you have those song sequences dumped into files so I can look at them and see what was done so I can try it for myself.

Well, here are some examples for the beginning of the first channel from CT songs:
Quote
t84%v20%b70%f0%x100%e1@0x25v120p64o6
t90%v10%b40%f0%x100%e1@0x20v80p64o5
An example of the beginning of a later channel:
%x100%e1@0x20v80p64o5

Edit-
By the way, if you include the %b and %f and try to import it into FF6, you'll probably get that glitchy noise at the beginning like with guitar2.

Do you have a perfectly working imported MIDI -> MML?  If so I'd like to dissect it so I can see how its done by example.  I'm finding the program a bit too hard to use since I don't know Japanese.  And when I try and convert and import a simple 4 channel 20 second MIDI it still won't work.

I don't know why. When importing from MQ to FFV/SD2, you have to add an extra pointer, and when importing from FFV/SD2, you have to remove the extra pointer.

Do you have any examples?  I'm not getting the imports to work form/to MQ.

This is a good topic.  ROM hackers could and should partisipate in this dicussion so we can get the right experience amount for each part of the game.

Anybody have any concrete guide(s) yet?  I still can't get anything to work.

All the offsets are the same between Easy Type and FF2us, all I did was copy pretty much everything over in large chunks, if you want to know where anything specifically was located let me know. Feel free to base a hack on it if you want.

I sort of figured as much seeing how FF2us was the base for FF4ET--it drives me bonkers when people say the reverse.  I never really bothered to look at the rom map for FF4ET.

any thoughts on this, jce?

I'm more or less contemplating reworking the statistical, magic, item, and other engine data to both make it challenging as well as different.  I'm still hashing out ideas...give me a few weeks to show some progress.

Hey, that's some fantastic work!  Now I'll assume you have the offsets documented on what was changed?  I might use your patch (with your permission of course) as a base for my latest hack.

I'm in the process of moving and I'll be without internet for at a minimum a week.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Did you import that into FF3us directly?

No.

What kind of garbage do you get? Are you inserting commands into the MML?

Where does it say to insert commands into the MML, I must have missed that part.  So, rather than continue this merry-go-round topic direction can we just get a simple start to finish guide with screenshots at getting the most rudimentary import done?  I don't own a Japanese Windows or know to read it anyway to be able to figure out this program.  Its obvious someone has got it to work.

 :bah: :lame:

Here is a simple midi and here is what tinymm.exe converted it to.  What else does this need to be imported?
