Battle Stats

I figured it would be neat to keep track of statistics that you rack up in battle.  Things like, the most damage dealt by each character in a single attack, or the total amount of damage that character has dealt or taken.

Per character:
Max damage dealt in one attack (whole-party spells are cumulative)
Total damage dealt
Total damage received
Total damage absorbed
Total health restored (include potions)
Enemies defeated
Number of deaths (stone counts)

Include totals/maxes for the entire party for all of the above.

Total steps taken (on foot, by sea, by air, by river, in towns, in dungeons)
Treasure chests collected (%)
Battles fought (land/sea/river/dungeon)
Total gold earned (won in battle, found in chests, by selling items)
Total gold spent
Total consumables used (potions, tents, arrows, whatever -- could even list them individually)
Game saves

What else?

Are you ready?   :laugh:  Keep in mind these are just off the top of my head.   :cycle:

In battle
  • # times poisoned, confused, and etc on all status ailments
  • total time spent in battle
  • total time poisoned--with a special message if poisoned for a certain time amount (and or the other ailments)
  • # times enemy ran
  • # times each character has crit'd
  • # times "surprised" and "strike first"
  • which character has been hit the most times (magic and phyiscal)
  • which character has taken the most damage (magic and physical)
  • monster most fought
  • monster least fought
  • favorite weapon/armor used (as an item)
  • favorite spell used in battle
  • monster's favorite skill/spell used on the party


Out of battle:
  • # of steps on certain terrain--swamp, desert, etc.
  • # times entered dungeons/caves/etc
  • # times entered "safe zones" towns/castles with no monsters
  • most played music (probably battle music lol)
  • party's favorite area visited (could seperate between town and or cave/dungeon/etc)
  • # times entered the menu
  • total time spent in town
  • game clock reading on each orb/crystal obtained--in other words what clock time when the character obtains the Earth Orb/Crystal
  • game clock reading when/if class advanced
  • # of inn visits
  • # of clinic visits
  • # of saves from Inn visits, tent/cabins, or menu
  • total time dead (per party member, and stone counts)

I could come up with more if asked.

I like most of those.

A lot of these ideas were inspired by all the stat tracking in Super Smash Bros.  I especially like the idea of tracking what your game time was at certain events.  I'll have to add commands to event scripts like "log event" where it records the time and a string saying what you did.

More in battle ones: longest battle (w/victory), shortest battle (w/victory), and most character deaths in one battle.

I wish FF6 had the RAM to keep such stats, I'd love to hack that stuff in. :D
5/31/16 - I have an assembly of the battle portion of C2, relocated to the F0 bank, which has both vanilla and patch code in my dropbox. I'll be updating it with additional patches as I have time. I will *not* be releasing it publicly, but ask me for the link and I'll share.

I just realized you could add achievements based on these stats.  You could, of course, get achievements for lots of different things.  One more feature to file away in the suggestion box.  :)

I really need to get an issue-tracking system and develop a backlog for this.  Just keeping all the steps somewhere would help me pull small pieces off to work on in my ever-shrinking free time.
