k.  worst-case scenario, if motherboard's bad, you have two options.

first, and least expensive, is this guy at $30 AR.  the issue is you can't use your recovery media (you'll need a regular old vista disc to reinstall windows if necessary).

second option is the original board, which looks like it'll run you around $80 from ascendtech.  i've used them for parts before (for an emachine mobo, actually) - you need to pay return shipping if you get a DOA part, which sucks but is generally standard practice among parts vendors like them.

let me know how the psu test goes.

look for bad caps on the mobo and psu.

consistently dying during startup with times that vary based on OS make me lean more towards mobo.  psu issues would be more consistent timewise.

what brand/model machine is it?  serial number/service tag too if it's a gateway, emachine, or dell.  pm me the info if you don't want to distribute it.

oh, and usually recovery discs usually only check the tattoo (the oem branding info in the bios) on the board - otherwise, you'd be completely screwed if the hdd died and you had to replace it.

Okay, choosing Vista from GRUB brings me to the standard Windows menu for selecting which OS to boot (which has 7 listed). I've never done an Ubuntu installation with more than one version of Windows installed, so I didn't realize this is how it would work.
BCD (the new windows boot loader) handles things internally for windows 6.x installs (vista, 7, server 2008/server2008 R2), so there's only one bootloader present for all such installations in a system.  an xp install would still show separately (gooooo ntldr!)

firefox.  can't check interiors right now, but desktop res at home is 1360x768 so likely in the 1356x600 range.

played through ff7 via psn.  enjoyed it much more than i did 11 years ago.  perfected ruby (doublecast life2, double summon hades/kotr, mime ad infinitum) and had an entertaining fight with emerald before killing it, too (the stronger single-hit beam was a one-shotter for all of my guys, so there was a decent amount of resurrecting going on... double-item phoenix down + elixir came in handy).

had to use an elixir on seraph sephiroth to keep him from dying before he could show me solar flare... cid's ultima counters were wearing him down, and yuffie's doublecasted quadra-flare did a hell of a lot more damage than i had expected (i had only done it for entertainment value, and then it landed for over 4k per hit).

omnislash did over 110,000.

and i barely did any stat-source grinding (20 mins max)...

finally playing twilight princess now.  just had zelda fade into nothingness after telling me i need to get the master sword.  so far, i'm finding this to be very easy, even for a zelda game... the only part i've had any trouble with was the joust on the bridge (it to a few tries to figure out how you were supposed to do it).

it's an excellent ride, though - i'm totally hooked and in zelda mode now!

at a glance, that looks  like a bitfield.  look at the bytes in binary instead of hex to verify, but i think you'll find the following:
lsb first,
bit 0: silence
bit 1: blind
bit 2: poison
bit 3: confusion
bit 4: sleep
bit 5: paralyze
bit 6: stone
bit 7: dead

therefore, for someone who's stoned, asleep, and poisoned, it should be 54h (0101 0100)

Vs. was previously OLN, the Outdoor Life Network.  The station is owned and operated by Comcast, which is probably why Dish has it on an expensive tier.

Back on-topic, the Flyers are really pissing me off... *sigh*

I'm going to the Flyers-Rangers game on Tuesday!

only games i've had multiple copies of are when i've had to replace stolen copies.

and i'm STILL incredibly bitter about the copy of suikoden ii that got stolen just after it went out of print in late 2000... i'm definitely not replacing that at > $100.

The following special cases are missing from the Critical Hit modifier section:
- bow OR arrow equipped
- Edge w/ one weapon, other hand empty

Also, according to the algorithm, the spell multiplier does not affect spell damage at all, only hit rate.  Is this correct, or an oversight in the formula?

"There is a bug where monsters count the dead in the algorithm, found in one rare instance. This only applies to the SNES version of the game."
What is the rare instance?

"Cure4/Curaja - When an enemy target takes more than 16383 damage, this spell will heal the MP of that target instead due to overflow."
What happens if the MP healing overflows (say, if over 34000 damage has already been dealt)?
