Is there any way to correct three glitches in FF3 (SNES)?
« on: December 13, 2009, 06:48:37 PM »
Or, more specifically, the Ted Woolsey translation of Final Fantasy III (SNES). I'm interested in creating a small hack for myself by adding difficulty to the game, but before I do so, I want to know if there's a way to correct three major glitches: Evade, Darkness, and M. Block?

Obviously, Evade and Darkness do not work, and having 128% M. Block practically means you are impervious to damage.

Any help?

IIRC, the Evade bugfix patch has existed for a while now. I suggest you check Romhacking.net or google for what you are seeking.

Although, I'm not sure if Darkness is fixed as part of the patch though, but it probably is.

I believe Darkness is partially fixed by the Evade fix. Since applying that patch I have missed attacks while having the Dark status, where I never miss in the original. Something to look out for is the Sniper Sight accessory, which ignores M.Block in order to achieve its 100% hit rate. It essentially becomes a caster's accessory.

A few subsets of spells would benefit... like Whirlwind (although, it's not helpful to you), Break, and Death.

Yeah, the Evade bugfix takes care of all of that. The sniper sight will properly check the Evade stat instead of M.Block.

Oops, didn't know that. Guess I better change my description for it then...
