You'd think that people would learn to take a hint. Apparently not.

:picard:

PICARD INDEED

Isn't the hint that he's unequippable and there is no space for him in the shopping screen not a bloody obvious hint?

I did this test a while ago, but it's worth mentioning again here. It relates to a stat of 0.

Life1 is derived by this stat, which the HP healed = Vitality/Stamina * 5 on revival... however, you know that's pretty crazy when the stat is 0.
In battle, they are revived with 1 HP.
Outside of battle, they are revived with 0 HP. Normally you would think they would go back to dying in battle, but that's simply not the case. They do, however, die right after taking damage.

I forgot to mention a minor bug regarding stats.

The min cap for this game for any negative stats to be 1. Unfortunately, someone goofed and forgot about when the stat is 0, which ends up staying as 0.. this is easily realized with Paladin Cecil with the Cursed Ring and maybe a few other instances that I can't think of yet.

In FF4A, the min cap for any stat below 0 equals 0.

A walkthrough would be cool too. Maybe you could try writing one that would work with every version:

"Open the chest, it contains a Cure 1 potion in FF2us, a Bomb Fragment in J2e's FF4 translation, a Potion in Easy Type, a Bomb in FF4 Chronicles, and is non-existent in the GBA version..."

On second thought...no.

It's easier if you do the following:

1) Mention only the good stuff you want to pick up.
2) Skip most of the monotonous story parts because repeating is a waste of space.

I was thinking more along the lines of giving tips to make things bloody easier for you. Point out randomly useful information such as exploitable bugs and/or stuff like that.

I was thinking about FF4A, and thought less of it since there are already Lunar Ruins/Trials specific docs that cover them well.

Well, I would've liked some verification on some of the stuff, but I suspect the bulk of them should be fine as is (some stuff doesn't need an order, both other shit does)...

Anything else?

The Algo guide will probably have to cover #3, #4, and maybe #5...

I was more interested in doing a Walkthrough after finding one of the FF2 FAQs was updated recently, with some guy getting lame credit for something I wrote about (though, I honesty can't say it was new news or I should get all the credit, but I have my own suspicions).

Some guy was suggesting that the equipment in some strange secretive order would produce some difference...

Quote from: Gamefaqs user
In the DS version, stats bonuses/penalties take effect in a certain order of equips with armor or headgear (forgot which) coming first, and weapons or shields (forgot which again) coming last. So you can negate post-99 stats penalties from Cursed Rings with weapons or shields, but not with helmets or armor. Does this work the same way, or is it different somehow (simple arithmetic, perhaps, or maybe subtraction always after addition?)?

I went like WTF are you talking about.

Anyone interested in any of the guides listed here?

At this point, I might just write a FAQ and Walkthrough over the weekend... it would be nice if anyone had any particulars needing to be addressed.

Is there some sort of stat cap change in FF4DS? In my recent posted link to a dumbass that doesn't get it, he's suggesting that this has changed somehow (I doubt it, since it makes no sense to me).

According to what WebMynd is... it sounds more like a proxy of sorts, caching everything before you even view the pages you normally visit.

Gamefaqs pages are generated on demand, so if you refresh it will be up to date... although they tend not to refresh for my browser unless I force it. Anyways, the ads are generated similarly (ads will rotate on refresh), so what happens is what is implied (though, they could just BS you badly, but what do I know?).

One more caveat I forgot to mention: you can't add two spells of different lists at the same level. For example, trying to learn Cure and Fire at level 2 will only add Cure. This limitation exists in the original game, and wasn't something I saw an easy work-around for.

I thought Rydia learned them at the same level.. but usually she gains 2 levels while at level 1 and I tend to forget which came first... oh well.

At least the game allows for learning 2 spells of the same list at the same level (Palom does this)...

As an aside, I've often wondered why Tellah and FuSoYa never gained any spells this way.. I guess that could be why. Rydia doesn't learn too many spells to exploit this either...

Sounds good, but does that even account for spell animation?

I'm not sure what you mean by spell animation. Do you mean the spell visual effects? Or its battle effects? Either way, the spell effects are unchanged no matter what the spell is named. It's up to the hacker to make sure the name begins with the right colored sphere to add to the correct list. This just gives people the ability to choose which lists spells go to, rather than have it be based on spell number.

I'm talking about the animation one uses for White, Black, and Summon magic. If for some reason you have a White magic spell in the middle of the monster spell lists, the game will use the Black Magic animation by default.

Weapon bits are not behaving properly, borking the behavior of certain weapons with intended behaviors (like the Mist Whip not doing paralysis).. fixed in the Euro version. I wrote up a list somewhere...

I'm pretty sure the game just doesn't check any of this stuff for items past 255.

Well, it's for a smaller subset of properties. They definatelyforgot about statuses.. but also for lesser elemental properties including Air elemental and Drain elemental.

The race modifier properties were inconsistant.. as the properties for the Apollo Harp is working properly.. but the Loki's Lute was completely borked.

Oh yeah, there's the Yang HP level bug (incomplete level up stat growth for HP).

Anyone got his HP growth data from the European GBA version? This should be fairly easy to fix.

I asked Entroper to get this data.. no dice.
