Indeed, I got it as part of the Humble Indie Bundle for Christmas in 2012. :)

Love me some Cave Story.

Subject Line says it all, fellas.

Anyone know of any? And don't get me started with that Joy2Key stuff, unless you want this to turn into a really long story.

 :bored:

I think my head just exploded

Maybe E1/0000 is the better way to notate it.
How did you done the speech revision?

I think you had to modify the offsets to the speech lines and stuff, isn't it.
Did you also modified the RPGe tlb?

Sorry for the offtopic. You can answer me in private.

Not necessary, I think I can be concise. I just never expanded the text more than a single text box would hold. I did not modify the table at all.

What I would do is go to the line, and arrow over to the letter I wanted to change, then type the hex digit for the letter I wanted to change it to.

It's super easy once you get started, it just gets monotonous, switching between the text file of the table and the windhex file of the actual game data. Click Ctrl-S when you're done.

Here is the English table file for the RPGe translation that I used.

Load it (the modified FF5 rom) up in WindHex, and apply this table. The dialogue starts at 00210000 (not sure how to notate it properly).

I don't recall doing any tilework. It was all hex editing.

Vivify93 is who you want to talk to...he might've.

I'm flattered that you guys have seen fit to work with it, but could anyone tell me, have any changes been made to the dialogue in Legend of the Crystals, that I may note for my records?

This is just sort of a hobby of mine, so it's not a matter of ego at all...get back to me

Another thing: Faris saying "The wind... it's gone." could me misinterpreted. It might seem like the wind has been missing for a long time. The same can be said about Galuf's line "The Wind's stopped".

The reasoning behind the change was that saying the wind "stopped" didn't sound like natural english to me, plus the word itself ("gone") is a more ominous-sounding word than "stopped..." I guess I was trying to follow the tone of the music in that scene, which is very dark and ominous.

Hey hey. I don't post in here much, but uh...I made this: FFV: Legend of the Crystals.

It's largely unchanged from the RPGe version, except for the dialogue text, which I just applied a light dusting to.

Use it as a base for your next patch! Why not? It's not like I own the thing. :finger:

I've been kind of hesitant to post about it here, because I think I might've pissed off Lenophis right around the time I started work on it in 2011. But I did a rewrite of FF6. I'd played RPGOne's Final Fantasy VI to death, and wasn't satisfied with the GBA version, although I'd estimate that the script is about 30% Slattery, 50% Woolsey, 10% Sky Render, and 10% made up stuff and typo/story corrections (i.e., Arvis saying that Imperial Troops are pursuing Tina, when it's actually Narshe's guardsmen).

I am, of course, kind of a wash as a hacker. My only real motivation for doing it was that I wanted to edit the script. I noticed that people tended to ask the question "What was originally intended by the scenario writer?" rather than "What would sound good?" Additionally, people often add additional pages of text to the game when they edit the script. I tried not to do that, because I feel that the rhythm of the Woolsey version should be preserved.

I changed the names of items, spells, monsters, and Eidolons (they're called Eidolons now, btw) to the versions Slattery used as best I could. Also, certain commands have been changed (Runic = Sealing, SwdTech = Iaido, Capture = Mug). This is all predictable stuff.

Every once in a while I added a line just because I thought it should be there, however, I was conscious of trying to reinvent the wheel.

If you'd like to give it a shot, it's here. If you'd like to see video of it in action, here it is.

Thanks for your time.

Also, the translation appears to have some rough edges I hadn't caught since my last revision - I'm fixing those as I find them.

I hate finding text bugs. Usually right after I've submitted a new version, too. I guess it's just Murphy's Law...

Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / In search of a hacker
« on: July 02, 2012, 01:32:40 PM »
I'm looking for one Joel Smith, who made this hack.

I'm posting here on the off-chance that he might see it. I want to fix the typos, but I can't get a working .tbl file together, because I can't figure out the hex locations of the dialogue font.

Anyone interested in helping is perfectly welcome to, of course.

EDIT: Got in touch with him.
