Ok, I do know that there is something funky going on. Throw is supposed to be the command with Gogo's screwed up portrait. There must be data for this, so where is this data?
* Lenophis looks in JCE's general direction

Do I have to spell it out?

Although, the issue is with how the window is rendered, it's not tied to the command.. just its location on the command menu.

What does recruiting have anything to do with Gogo's command list? It has absolutely zero impact. I would've thought you knew this.
I read somewhere that the characters you get means Gogo gets their commands added to his list. I'll do some inspecting, and see what turns up.

This is true, but I think it has to do moreso with how his list is initiated. Once a character is introduced, their command set is probably added to the list. It is added in the order that the characters are listed in. I suggest you take a look at Gogo's full command list. Take a look at how it matches up with the characters you get in the order is it stored internally.

In the WOR, getting characters back has nothing to do with how Gogo's list is created.

Here's a frame of reference...

FF6 using RPGOne''s translation:

An old FF3USHT completed game:

Take a look at where those commands are gathered, and from the characters these come from... the correlation is obvious (this I realized minutes ago believe it or not).

General Discussion & Support / Beta Tester Application

Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.  I'm taking applications for beta testing.  I need to know a couple of things.

Do I have to apply?

Just kidding.

No.

A lot, until something happens...

If it matters, I did testing in pointing out one guy's not-so-innovative Zelda 3 hack and I did unintentional (originally) beta testing of Nightcrawler's Dual Orb 2 translation (which was updated maybe a month or two ago).. in addition to pointing out stuff in both your hacks.

Oh well.  :isuck:

Gogo - I cannot live w/o the Steal command
Really? Locke isn't recruited, so steal shouldn't be available to you. I get Locke very early because he's one of my best overall fighters, and any level re-averaging sucks. One party of Terra, Sabin, Celes, and Edgar and another party of Mog = massively beaten Phoenix Cave.

I also get Mog pretty quickly because the Moogle's Charm is really helpful in areas annoying to clean out (Kefka's Tower, Cultists' Tower, etc).

What does recruiting have anything to do with Gogo's command list? It has absolutely zero impact. I would've thought you knew this.

Here's how I do it..

Celes
Sabin - might as well
Edgar
Setzer
Terra - yes, I do her side-quest for Fenrir
Gau - well, it doesn't matter if I get him before or after Terra, but meh to Gau
Cyan - only for the amazing Aegis Shield and he's just there for the ride
Gogo - I cannot live w/o the Steal command
Relm - Control ftw!
Strago - because it's the duh thing to do
Shadow - mini-meh of a journey - sometimes I do this after getting Mog+Umaro
Mog - worth the trip while having Strago
Umaro - on the way after getting Mog
Locke - takes too much effort to get IMO

Gaming Discussion / Fun FF3/6 Question
« on: August 19, 2008, 11:07:38 AM »
In what order do you pick up characters in the WOR?

The list should always start with Celes in it (it's helpful to keep a count anyways).

While compiling the list, it helps to explain why you do it in that order.

I mean, maybe some of you skip picking up Sabin at the earliest chance!

Gaming Discussion / Dumb FF3/6 Question
« on: August 19, 2008, 11:02:38 AM »
If you don't wait for Shadow, is the Relm @ Jidoor event prevented until the Cave of the Veldt is complete?

It seems like one of the few questions I should have an answer to, but considering that I always get Shadow, I don't often think about this aspect that often.

The properties of the Ninja Gear diminish over time while defense+magic defense+any evasion+any mblock bonuses+elemental bonuses tend to have a greater impact over time...

A lot of the drops tend to be a little insane, for whatever the reason.

As for Shadow, have you been paying attention to the character's raising their hands.. or at least looked into the individual item stats? FF3/6 was the first to have a reasonably expansive system for this purpose.

Admittedly FF3/6 was already broken in its own way (although a dumbass Gamefaqs user would say the Tempest the shiznit weapon, but it isn't).. but a lot of the new weapons are not well thought out, especially given the alternatives that already exist.

 :edit:

Also, FF3/6 was already easy. Unfortunately, I didn't bother replaying the Euro version of the game (for bug checking reasons) and that's probably an unfortunate side effect of a weak game replay value for me... exposing these bugs are not worth my time.. especially considering what was exposed with a Game Genie I had for a time for FF3.

JCE,

[spoiler]the uber monster that is mentioned having the most magic power on said continent (hint: same guy who mentions about the weak magic power of the monsters) has the auto-drop.

Plus, it's actually easy to kill them when set up properly.

I'll say this again, like I've said before...

FF5A is the only port that isn't tweaked to overpoweredness... bugs or no bugs.

I was talking about the bug you referred to in your first reply. Life and Fenix Downs both revive the character with Float status instead of just Life.

interesting.. are you sure you fought one more battle after dying in the first battle?

Yes... though I ran away, not that it should matter.
