I'll make it simple and break it down between the versions.  And these numbers are on the original carts--and running my HardType on my Super Wild Card when I had it.

FF2us:
Speed "no text and no items or leveling" run 6:00~6:30
Average "get items and mild level grinding" run 9:00~10:00
Full "read text and get items plus level grind" run 15:00~15:45

FF4:
Speed run 7:00~8:00
Average run 10:00~11:00
Full run 17:00~18:00

FF2usHT
Speed 8:00~9:30 (yes it varies that much)
Average 14:00~15:00
Full run 20:00~21:00

My Legacy of Y's came in the mail today (took only 2 days!) and I started playing Y's I.

Legacy of Y's, Book of Y's I (DS)

1:13 I am on the mountain path about to enter the temple.  I've leveled grinded a bit, maybe too much.  I did choose Very Easy just to finish the game quicker.  I am level 9 and already bought a Long Sword.  And I have 1451 Gold already saved up.  I have 1130/1420 until I gain to level 10.

So far its pretty fun.  Its not really boring, and hopefully it won't be.   :cycle:

*edit*
And 1 game hour later I'm in some wierd forest area with paths in the trees killing monsters that are giving me tons of exp.  I'm level 23 almost at the Lv24 max.  Apparently Y's Book I & II are short.  But Dahm Tower (sp?).

*edit 2*
4:22 I'm in the tower and no way out.  Time to beat Y's I!  I'm thinking about getting Y's Book I & II for the TG16 CD just because.  I want to play the original after I play these remakes.

XenoSaga 2 is not a good game.

Doesn't really matter to me.  I bought it because it was cheap and I needed it for my collection.  I'll probably never play it.

24 hours later I bought a ton of games from GameStop in the cheap bins.

PS2 games:
EyeToy Groove
EyeToy Operation Spy
Front Mission 4
NBA Jam
NBA Live 2005
Kingdom Hearts (Greatest Hits)
Shining Force NEO
Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits
Xenosaga II
NHL 2001
NHL 2002
NHL 2003
NHL 2004
NBA Live 2001
NBA Live 2002
NCAA Football 2004
NCAA Football 2005

The problem is I am going to have to exchange the case and inserts for Arc the Lad and Shining Force NEO due to some idiot putting the sticker on the spline of the insert.  I HATE THAT.  I can just order new PS2 cases but the game artwork spline on the outside of the case is harder to find.

Warriors of the Lost Empire (PSP)

Just beat the 4th of the 8 dungeons.  So far the game is pretty neat, but isn't too deep and is just a level/dungeon grind.  But at least it is a fairly enjoyable one.  I bought a ton of games today so I'm updating my game list.

Like I said it seems to completely freeze up IE and Opera.  I've tried all the loading settings in Opera and haven't found the one that lets me scroll down while the page loads.  It is driving me up the wall.

I've purchased PS2 cases from these people and they are as advertised--perfect and like new.

They have cases for all consoles.  DS, PSP, PS2, PS3, Wii, XBOX, 360 and etc.  Definately a worthwhile expense if you want your collection to look as good as possible.

I figured JCE would've revived this one, but oh well. In any event, post the games you own!

JCE3000GT's games, Dragonsbrethren's games, Leviathan Mist's games, Paladin's games, and my games (I decided to cheat a little and add some games I want to my list)!

If anybody else has a list, I'll update this post with them.

Mind changing the post to make it easier to read please?

Game owned/wanted lists on VG Rebirth:
-JCE3000GT
-Dragonsbrethren
-Leviathan Mist
-Paladin
-Lenophis

Mine's been updated to reflect the newest games I've purchased.

I bought:

-Warriors of the Lost Empire
-SimCity Creator
-Dragon Quest VIII w/FF12 Demo

I'll be tinkering with the Warriors game to see if its any good.  The SimCity game is for the girlfriend.

*edit*
Also bought another Dragon Quest VIII to get the proper case and manuals.  Bought Sudoku Gridmaster, another copy of Jax and Daxter to get a good case and instructions, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the DS, 28 new PS2 game cases and Legacy of Y's Book I & II.

I forget, do you have a DS flashcard? If so, there's a homebrew alternative to an actual Action Replay: http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/NitroHax/index.html

I honestly can't think of any spots. I never felt the need to grind in FF4 DS until around the Tower of Zot, and there I just used the forest around Troia. That spot above Mt. Ordeals is gone now, you fight the same stuff there are you would anywhere else on the Mysidian continent.

I want to spend my time grinding to a high level just to make the game that much easier to beat.  I really don't feel like playing it as is.

Gaming Discussion / FF4 DS level grinding
« on: June 16, 2009, 12:29:52 AM »
FF4 DS is a different animal than the others so forgive my noobishness.  I need a good leveling spot to grind out levels that will take the least amount of time and will give me the best exp per monster.  I'm going to start the leveling grinding after I get Rosa and then again after I turn into a Paladin.  Any help is appreciated.

P.S. I cannot find my Action Reply DS so that's the reason for the topic.

I haven't played any Star Ocean games since the 2nd one.  Also Monster Hunter doesn't seem like my cup of tea.  And I'll check out that Plants vs Zombies thing.

But for me I bought this: Legacy of Y's

It will probably be ok and if I like it enough I might get the offical Falcom release on the PSP in July.

It takes easily 20 seconds to load a search page completely before I can do anything.  In the meantime my entire browser (and sometimes computer(s) freeze).
