To all users of my Summon This! patch
« on: December 21, 2010, 12:05:36 PM »
1: The patch does work.
2: After some investigation, tests reveal it conflicts with assassin's Brushless Sketch fix. If you used his patch before or after my patch, Very Bad Things will happen.
3: angelo, the next time you tweak one of my patches again without coming to me first will be a cold day in hell for you.

I need to look into other patches that might be tweaking the code my patch is tweaking, and pump an update out.

yeah, i went apeshit optimizing (with Imzogelmo's help) for that patch.  Function C2/532C didn't require editing for the patch per se, but it was a neighboring function whose shrinkage allowed me to minimize the amount of free space used.  not to mention we made it more readable in the process. :P  the upside is more free space left for hackers, but the downside is less existing code other hackers can modify without causing a conflict.  it's a tradeoff.

on the bright side, the patch's commenting is very thorough, and it's likely the conflicting area is just shifted code rather than materially rewritten.

I'll likely have to make a new assembly file for that one, cause there's so much shifting going on and there's a minimal amount of changes. Easy enough.

Sorry if there's any misunderstanding, I don't want to cause any troubles, Lenophis.

I did release a version of your patch and you were given proper credit at the ff6hacking website. The "summon this!" patch does not work with the FF6 improvement patch and I wanted to see if I could fix it by myself. The problem with the improvement patch is that code gets shifted around.

If you want, I can take it down and send you the patch. After all, I wouldn't have been able to fix it without all the help you've been giving me in this forum.I apologize once again for any misunderstanding.

I'm amazed you did manage to do that yourself.

That's not the issue.

This is a gray area. My update isn't done yet, and until it is, there's no way for this patch to be compatible with assassin's fix yet. Hang on to it until my update is ready. That won't be for a bit yet, because I'm working on a super sekrit thing right now and it requires my full attention.

So is the patch supposed to fix the game's summon command to where it doesn't fail every once in awhile?
And I may not be the smartest person in the world but..wouldn't a cold day in hell be better than the usually hot day? Which would be a favor sort of?
Maybe I'm just not thinking it through lolz  :blits:

I wanted to get permission from Imzogelmo to make the "Not Scary Enough...NEXT!" patch compatible with darkmage's FF6 improvement patch. If you apply the not scary patch to the ff6 improvement project, the game randomly freezes or resets at the end of battles. I wanted to give it a shot, if Imzogelmo hasn't considered fixing this himself.

Probably I'll release a patch if I'm successful, hence the need of permission.

Sure, knock yourself out. :)
5/31/16 - I have an assembly of the battle portion of C2, relocated to the F0 bank, which has both vanilla and patch code in my dropbox. I'll be updating it with additional patches as I have time. I will *not* be releasing it publicly, but ask me for the link and I'll share.
