Understanding Osmose
« on: September 02, 2010, 12:22:03 PM »
I'm not sure if it had been mentioned anywhere (or if I've even inquired about it before).

It's very obvious what it does, and how powerful it is.

However, it is very curious as to how it operates with Gogo when he Mimics a character casting that spell.

IIRC, if Gogo does not have a magic or equivalent command, Osmose occasionally does not recover his MP (assuming there is MP to recover from the target and Gogo) when mimicing that spell from another character.

Someone care to explain this away?

Not much to explain here. If Gogo doesn't have any magic, or doesn't have the Lore command, his MP isn't copied to the battle buffer. I'm guessing Osmose is trying to restore MP the game thinks he doesn't have. A bug? Probably, but it seems more like an oversight.

119 bugs fixed and counting.

Bleh. It also happens in FF6A as well.

I wonder what would happen if Gau used a Rage that casts Osmose, but the Zozo-Esper event hadn't occured. I also wonder what would happen if Cyan had Empowerer (super high level) before that event...

Since the MP wasn't copied to the battle buffer, I have to believe the same would happen for both.

I think MP isn't added or you get 0. I think I did this once.
