Scariest RPG Monster

The SORCERER discussion in the FF2usHT walkthrough thread got me thinking about this.  So lets hear it!

I obviously vote for the SORCERER from FF1.  They may only do 4 DMG but with the ability to KILL someone on a regular hit at any time they definately are scary in numbers.  Run into 6 or more of them and you are seriously screwed.

I have to agree.  Nothing strikes terror into your heart faster than seeing a band of those pink-robed mofos appear, just when you're trying to escape with the FLOATER.  GRRR!

FF5's monster that lurks in the castle where the soldiers tell you about it... it's great when the scan lies to you about the enemy and you get locked into a battle when you do a critical hit.

Is this named Garkimasra in some translations of FF5j on Super Famicom?

I'm gonna have to say Lavos. This guy gave me nightmares, even considering the fact I first played Chrono Trigger in 2003...I STILL got nightmares from Lavos. The bad ending was the worst....and that shrieking noise he makes. Truly bone-chilling!

"BUT THE FUTURE REFUSED TO CHANGE"

Oh man, I completely forgot about that. Try playing that when you are 14 and are still easily scared.

I take offense to that

Seriously, Lavos didn't scare me at all. His screech was a little creepy, but that's about it.
When I first saw him, I thought, "Am I fighting a giant turtle?"

The Skeleton monsters in Wild ARMs, those were sort of scary. Not nightmare-inducing, but cheesy zombie attack noise + playing late at night = scared 10-year-old.
Hacking is hard.
