So for this example, you would replace the 'F0' and the '36' in that line with whatever the hex code is for NOP.

Been giving some thought to this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127417

It's a little cheaper than the nVidia options, but the same card, different manufacturer got some nice reviews:

That one's low profile, which I'm guessing is why it's got an extra $13 tacked on.

If the rebate still available when I'm ready, I'll probably go with this 9500GT, though:

Due to a recent development, I'm even more concerned with the cost than I was before. I had been considering overshooting the $300 a bit more to get one of the more expensive ones, but now I'm thinking that's not such a good idea. On the plus side, if things work out the way I'm hoping, I'll be able to get something much nicer this time next year (or possibly sooner, even).

I already have some from when I swapped out the mobo after my last one died.

I should be able to use my existing fan, though, right?

Same card + 1x 2GB Patriot is cheaper than that deal.

 :edit:

Actually, no it's not, I just can't add for some reason.

The deal will probably still be gone by the time I can buy it, though.

 :edit:

Wait a minute, no, I was right the first time. It is more expensive by $5.

Okay, I went through the forums for everything I play that relies on OpenGL, and the only one that seems to have major issues with ATI cards is GZDoom. So yeah, throw up some more links to ATI if you want, I don't really care either way as long as it works, and the ones I've looked at certainly seem to be higher rated at NewEgg (I don't put much faith in reviews, but it's nice to know they're not melting or anything  )

 :bah:

I cleared my cache this afternoon. It was still in my cart the last time I checked, which I believe was last night. Probably wouldn't have worked if I bought it after the deal disappeared anyway.

I'm still considering the 9800GT w/ power supply combo. Mostly just wanted to let everyone know I am reading the posts and checking things out, even if I don't have much to say about them.

Finally bought the first episode and I like it so far.  Hoorah for bumping an old topic!

Be careful about reading through it, though; spoiler tag's been broken since the forum upgrade. :bah:

Wow, really cool. I never really liked the idea of breaking the damage/HP cap (9999 is more than enough; too much really), but this is still some impressive work.

I'll need to think about that one, it goes over my limit but it's still under it with the rebates. I guess what I should ask now is, is that card overkill for what I want to do with it? The most graphics-intensive thing I do on here regularly is play a 12-year old game with a somewhat demanding graphics plugin, which does reasonably well with my current setup.

Oh wow, I just noticed the mail-in rebates on that one. Yeah, I think I'll go with that, provided nothing better pops up.

It is rated poorly, which is why I was avoiding it originally. You're the one who insisted, though, I thought maybe you might know better than me or something.
