well, the first couple of battles were very narrowly won through liberal abuse of my 3 charges of cure.  i'm at lv. 2 now and killing things is much easier.  i'm thinking that lv. 4 ought to be enough to take on the minotaur.

After some debugger use, here's what I've got.

1417C (Without header) - Reward data?. 3 bytes each, first byte unknown.

EXP is the second byte multiplied by 3.

Gold is very slighly more complex.
If the 3rd byte is less than 0x42, then it's multiplied by 3.
If it's equal to or above 0x42 but less than 0x4A, then it's multiplied by 6.
If it's equal to or above 0x4A, then it's multiplied by 0x0A.

Ok part 2 of the irritation. 

I cannot for the life of me find the EXP and GP won from monsters.  It is not located in the same area as the monster stats, and when you search for the values it doesn't show any data that seems organized.

Use my editor to find out the order in which the game stores the monsters.  IE  Brownie, Mint Mint and Red Cap for the 1st three. 

Ok so I just went and replaced ALL occurences of 42 00 which equals 66 EXP that the Brownie gives and the amount of EXP in game did not change so this data must be compressed?

Seems as though the SNES9x for the PSP doesn't like any MQ except the (U) and (J) original unedited releases.  The Euro and my HardType games do not play past the title screen..

They play fine on the emulator though.  *shrugs*

The Behemoth is the battle in the prologue.  The Minotaur is the boss after you get Kaeli and trek through the Level Forest.

Here is the official topic for MQHT.  So here's the scoop.

1st beta edition:
  • Distinctly harder monsters -- up until the Minotaur
  • Tweak some misc items
  • Some misc text changes not relating to the story
  • Tweaked character stats (some increases some decreases)


Again, beta testers, reviewers (once 1st public release is out) and FAQ writers are needed.  This thread is ONLY for beta tester requests and beta/public releases of the patch.

You NEED a ROM header!

NOTE: Keep in mind the game is only playable as a hardtype until after you beat the Minotaur.  After that it is even easier due to the character stat and item changes.
