Title: Bloopers Mk. II!
Post by: Dragonsbrethren on December 02, 2007, 09:17:15 PM
It is inevitable. Every time I work on the script I end up losing at least one <end> tag and lines get shifted around when the pointers are recalculated. While annoying it can be quiet entertaining when a line fits a situation despite being entirely out of place. The following is a perfect example:

Tritoch seems really happy about the crappy coffee and week-old doughnuts we keep in Pandora's Breakroom...

My trustworthy sources informed me it was expired cola and several week old sandwiches...

Damn bastards keep lying to me!

Prior to his work researching magic Cid made a living infusing life into inanimate objects. This barrel went on to a lucrative career as Albrook's innkeeper.

Probably not as funny, but apparently the item descriptions are having brain farts:

Well, in some sort of fashion, we've made a small boo-boo. Observe:

 Yeah, Strago's not getting healed...

Did the game freeze after that? Because I see a line of garbage at the top of the screen.

I take it old age is settling in.

No, Zsnes caused the garbage. I don't know why, it does that sometimes.

I think if you hit ESC twice, it might clear that up. (Garbage 'line')

Ok, during an experiment, we tried to expand on what some messages tell you. To that end, for this example we tried to add in Strago's name to learning of lores. However, as if our blooper reel hasn't had enough coverage, another entry decided to add itself:

One thing is certain, that's damn good armor.

I'd pay for overpowered armor. I'll sell the moogle just to do it!  :omg:

This one never made it in, I caught it in my script:

Quote
Sentry<line>
^Understood, sire!<line>
Take cave!"<end>

Well, you do need to go through the cave, perhaps he was just reminding you of that...

That image was lost when my old host went down, I didn't keep a local copy of a lot of things back then like I do now. For reference, it was a pointer error that caused Tritoch in the Narshe mine to use one of the South Figaro soldiers' lines ("Oh, is my shift up already? Great! I'll go take a break.").

The one Leno posted was a barrel that used an innkeeper line ("Rooms are 80 gil per night. Will you be staying?") instead of the found item/gil message.

One thing I should have learned by now, never, ever think OAM will let you do whatever the hell you want.

But, live and learn.

This is your poor man's Doom Gaze built-in map detection?

Can I have that map  :cookie:?
