Title: Monster Formations Used In Chests
Post by: Deathlike2 on March 16, 2011, 01:06:26 AM
There's a lump of formations that are exclusively for chest monsters... but I don't recall monster formation 0x1C5 used.... anyone want to figure this out? It seems to be a monster that would have been used in the Tower of Babil Eblan or Underground (Falcon) route...

God it's been so long since I messed with that.  I believe you can use Zyrthofar's editor to more easily view the formations and then find the first "monsters in a box" formation.  And technically all of the event scripts use this set--Trap Doors, Monsters-in-a-box and stepping on the "Behemoth" tiles in Bahamut's cave on the moon.

1D8 starts a good interesting group of event battle formations...

Hope this helps.

I've heard there was a different version of Zythrofar's editor... That looks to be a SS from the version I don't have; is that one available anywhere for download?

I'm sure DB could send that over to you.

zythrofar's editors still have some bugs... the newer one has item corruption and has issues saving monster resistance data (well, even the older one had that, and arguably in a worse off scenario).

Cool...yeah if someone has a copy and can make it available that'd be great!

You are right about it corrupting stuff when it saves. When I used the 1.0 version for my hack I only made changes in a "scratch" ROM and then I manually copied over the hex data I wanted from the scratch to the master. That seemed to work reasonably well for the most part. A couple of things still got janked...but I was able to find them and fix them.
