Final Fantasy Advance Font Specifications
« on: July 19, 2009, 04:17:36 PM »
Would you guys mind proofreading this before I add it to the database at RHDN? I finally got around to writing it all out, and it should be correct, but let me know if anything is worded poorly, hard to understand, or contradictory. I hate writing these sorts of things, which is why I've put it off for so long:

Chrono Trigger DS uses this same format. Document updated.

nothing looks that difficult to understand, nor is anything worded poorly.  maybe include the font table addresses?  although, they shouldn't be hard to search for, so that might be extraneous info in this case.

:edit:
in fact, i've got hex workshop out right now to fool around with this.

Yeah, I considered including font addresses, but it seems pretty pointless. You can find all of the fonts by just searching for FONT in ASCII. If I did include them it would be three sets of offsets for each version of each FF Advance game; I'm not sure about CT, I just decided to search that one on a hunch - it was made by TOSE after all.

I'd like to think my document had something to do with this, but I highly doubt it. And I just redrew FF5's font by hand! :bah:

 :edit:

Some documentation would've been nice. You need to dump the entire font table, plus four bytes before FONT. I'm guessing these are also part of the font table; I'm going to update my document to mention the program in a bit.
