Final Fantasy V Research & Development / Title Screen
« on: April 12, 2018, 02:59:06 AM »
Does somebody knows how the title screen is composed and its all graphical assets (tiles, palettes, tilemaps,...)?
I'm talking about the very first screen we see with Final Fantasy V label before running chocobo.

Game Modification Station / New Tool: Visual SAK
« on: February 23, 2018, 08:37:49 AM »
Visual SAK: Visual Swiss Army Knife

A new tool developed that will be more like the real Swiss Army Knife - a toolbox in one package, easy to use, does few things but do them with precision!
The toolbox will be focused on ripping of visuals from different ROM - Sprites, Graphics, Palettes, Tiles, ... but not casual ripping rather - finding, documenting, exporting and maybe in the feature importing.

Proof of concept:

There are plenty of things to be done - export of images, more operations on palette, project list, more formats, but I'm eager for some input before going on :D

Download: Version 3.1

P.S. Please download and share some feedback. Also if you find bugs, spell errors,... please report them here. If you have ideas how to make it better - please don't hesitate to suggest.

Final Fantasy V Research & Development / Treasure Hunter achievment
« on: October 22, 2017, 05:55:31 PM »
Hi guys,

do you know something like save editor for Steam version? I lack only one achievement - Treasure Hunter.
It will be extremely boring and more important - easy to miss a treasure by replay, so I give up in doing it in the normal way.

General Discussion / Slick was down
« on: October 05, 2017, 11:24:40 AM »
Slick was down for quite sometime. It will be nice if owners or at least those that take care for Slick give some explanations ...

Personally I'm more interested for the long term expectations - is it going down forever, is this just temporary, is it re-occurring (we had similar period last year).
My main concern is the FF5 wiki, which is probably THE BEST source for internals of FF5.

Final Fantasy V Research & Development / New Project
« on: August 11, 2017, 01:51:22 AM »
Hey guys, lets make a new project for FF5!

Its been around an year since I have coded something for FF5, so my hands kind of itching :)
If you have in mind an idea - please share and lets discuss it to form a new project.

Project specification:
- it should not be a hack, although I'm fairly good with the assembly;
- it will be a separate program for Windows, build from the scratch (so we own all the rights)
- it can be a tool, an editor, viewer, ...

So if you have something in mind - bring it on! :)

Final Fantasy V Research & Development / Enuo
« on: June 28, 2017, 03:40:20 AM »
Hey guys, its been a while since I wanted to make a video of an interesting fight against Enuo. I couldn't think of anything worth to be shown for a while, but after some conversations with Praetarius5018 over FF5 engine, finally the inspiration came:
https://youtu.be/dnMVNZqiP64

These is not the best strategy I have. Originally I had to cast Quick and do 2 Goblin Punches per char, but when I made a video, it took like 3 minutes. I saw that simple Goblin Punch is faster but couldn't believe it shortened the video by 1/3 (up to 2 minutes).

Please comment on what your initial reaction is, any suggestions how to speed it up, what other abilities can do a dissent damage,...

P.S. A fight to be interesting it must be low level or short (in time or number of turns) or with solid strategy.

Gaming Discussion / Life is Strange
« on: June 26, 2017, 05:12:07 AM »
I don't know how may of you play other titles of Square or at least other then jRPG, but recently I stumbled upon this GEM.
Its been years since I last played adventure games (my first love). I have stopped because many of the post Point&Click adventures missed the mark - the balance between puzzle solving and story telling.

Anyway "Life is Strange" is more like visual novel, but not as Tale Tales ones where your interaction and action mean almost nothing (so you have a feeling you watch a movie, not playing a game). Here every action have a consequence. Also the game has great balance between video and user input is so great balanced, that in the end you feel like smooth watching a video, yet the satisfaction of played a video game.

This year we can expect 2 new titles around Life is Strange - a sequel and a prequel :)

P.S. If you have played the game, please share your experience. Also if you hadn't you can get Episode 1 for free, but be warned - you will want more :D
