Final Fantasy V Research & Development / Re: A question about Job editting

What about adding graphics for these hypothetical new jobs? Is there space for that? Would they have to be placed elsewhere?

Sweet. I have yet to have ever beaten FF5. Since I've already played up to nearly the end several times I'd love to mix things up a bit so I'm not bored to death when I go at it again.

On a side note, adding more jobs would be a far more difficult thing, right?

Final Fantasy V Research & Development / A question about Job editting
« on: September 04, 2012, 02:49:05 AM »
I've noticed in the editor by Samurai Goroh that you can't add more abilities to a job that has less than the max number of abilities filled. Has anyone ever successfully expanded all the jobs to allow for the max number of abilities to be added?

This is a pretty big question, but how DO the maps in FF6 work? I've never looked into it, but off the top; of my head it seems some maps contain multiple rooms that can be entered at different points. Or am I waaay off base?

Ah! Thanks a lot! :)

Game Modification Station / Re: FF1 into FF7 MOD
« on: April 01, 2012, 01:11:39 PM »
I'm kinda wondering if you really looked into this project much. Because the first thing that pops out at me is that your thread title says this is a FF1 mod. It isn't. This is a continuation of the translation project for the Chinese FF7 NES game. I just wanted to clear that up.

Now as to what you said about the Downgrade of FF7 to an NES game, I can say for sure that you are not alone. Not me per say, but I know a few people in the hacking/fangame community that don't "get" the appeal of retro remakes of later generation games. Personally I compare it to how some people prefer old black & white movies.

Haven't had any luck finding one. This is for a translation project I'm doing to document the original game.
I also want to examine Easy Type, but I would presume it to use the same table file. Any help would be appreciated.

83
Sweet! I always wanted to have something like this. In my case, because I like having all of the game's data in one easy to use spot for my research proposes. Also, I commend you on the use of config files for labels, that makes the creation of new things a helluvalot easier.

Thanks a lot! Just what I needed.

Now the only question left is... what the HELL is a 'Fe-n' Phantom?

Edit: Research prevails!!

フェーン (n) (abbr) (See フェーン現象) Foehn phenomenon.

A föhn wind or foehn wind is a type of dry down-slope wind that occurs in the lee (downwind side) of a mountain range. It is a rain shadow wind that results from the subsequent adiabatic warming of air that has dropped most of its moisture on windward slopes (see orographic lift). As a consequence of the different adiabatic lapse rates of moist and dry air, the air on the leeward slopes becomes warmer than equivalent elevations on the windward slopes. Föhn winds can raise temperatures by as much as 30 °C (54 °F)[1] in just a matter of hours. Central Europe enjoys a warmer climate due to the Föhn, as moist winds off the Mediterranean Sea blow over the Alps.

So... Foehn Phantom.

I'm putting together a spreadsheet that details all the associated abilities of all the jobs and characters for the entire Final Fantasy series.

I'm including literal translations. I hit a little snag in that I can't find the original Japanese text for one of the Terrain/Gaia effects.
Specifically the one called Faen Fantom. Any one know what it is?

Harddrive crash wiped all my recent work. Starting over from my hand-written notes.

Here's A little something I've been working on since the loss of my data.
Started as an upgrade of just one frame of the original Megaman sprite for a friend. Also, includes an 8-bit X & and an 8-bit-ish Megaman.EXE based on Zero (v2.0). Those are for a perler bead project for my friend's nephew, they aren't gonna be in the game.

When I finish it, it'll be used as a base for some of the other playable characters. He ended up about the same size as Megaman from the Wily Wars, so I took part of one of those sprites for mine.

Edit:
Threw this together for an edit I'd like to do to Megaman Zero Collection so I don't have to put up with the rather nonsensical palette choices.

The good will by my place has SNES carts sometimes.
If I get my hands on one I'll scan in the label and post it here.

Pandora's Box / Re: Hello 2012!

I totally understand how tough things can be. Being an indie game developer & having dabbled in ROMhacking I have a pretty good idea.
I still haven't tried out the PB demos so now's probably as good a time as any. Keep up the good work and everything will work out. :)
