Post Interesting Links Here!
« on: August 26, 2008, 09:47:03 PM »
so i was thinking at work, why not make a thread where people can post interesting/humorous/riveting/etc links that they find. i thought this might be fun to share interesting stuff.

i'll go first!

blogger beware: the goosebumps blog

i don't know how many of you guys read the goosebumps series while you were kids, but r.l. stine really wrote some hilariously shitty material.  this guy reviews the entire goosebumps series, hilarity ensues.

Diego Goldberg: The Arrow of Time

on june 17 of every year(from 1976-present) this family takes a picture of each of the members individually.  it's pretty cool to see them slowly age.

i have at least a few hundred links i need to go through. i'll post a few more later.

you know, i thought i screwed it up...

every time i go to save the fixed link, it comes up as http://"link_here"

i know it's not me, because i keep fixing it and it keeps screwing up...

:edit:

there we go, nixing the quotation marks fixed everything nicely.

aaaaand, moving on....

archive.org speed run archive

i like this better than the speed demos archive for the simple fact that i prefer watching 100% runs.

eight bells

this guy uses some really nice plates.  and some of the recipes look really nice, also.  this one is from new zealand.

I believe there are 100% speedruns on SDA. Hell, many of the SDA runs are posted at archive.org

archive.org speed run archive is a cool site!

I've always had to go to http://tasvideos.org/ which doesn't have PS or PS2 speed runs. They are generally "better" played but confess to emulation and uber-slow speeds.

TAS runs are basically dedicated to perfection or doing odd stuff with the game.

Generally I don't watch updated TAS videos that are better by minuscule amounts. Being a frame faster going down that one stair isn't worth re-watching an entire hour long video.

I wish they would focus on playing more games "really well" than try to beat Mario 3 in under 9 minutes only to beat the time by 2 seconds when you could have made 10 awesome other videos in the same time. Granted, some of them take a lot of research and the results show and they're really worth it. Beating the time by minutes makes for a wonderful video (or sometimes crap as a major exploit usually makes the game glitchy to watch and sometimes incoherent).

I'd love to see a game like Ogre Battle and Metal Marines time attacked as well as "score attacks" for games like Super Punch Out.

5/31/16 - I have an assembly of the battle portion of C2, relocated to the F0 bank, which has both vanilla and patch code in my dropbox. I'll be updating it with additional patches as I have time. I will *not* be releasing it publicly, but ask me for the link and I'll share.
