Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / Character Level-Up Excel Workbook
« on: December 22, 2010, 09:22:10 PM »
In order to easily modify the character's level-up data I created an Excel workbook which only needs the raw hex data and it calculates all the net values so that one can easily tweak or create curves for the various character statistics. I also included charts so one can quickly evaluate changes.

The workbook contains 13 spreadsheets, one for each playable character.

I created the workbook in Excel 2003 SP3, so you don't need the latest version to open the file and use it. You do however need the Data Analysis Toolpak as an ad-in to Excel. It includes base conversion functions that are required to make the calculations work. It should be included in Excel it just may not be activated just because it isn't by default. All you need to do is to go to the main menu in Excel, open Tools > Ad-Ins and then check the box next to "Data Analysis Toolpak".

Hopefully someone will find this useful, it certainly helped me revise the level up data for my hack quickly.  :cycle:

Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / FF-II ATB Switch
« on: December 14, 2010, 10:43:33 AM »
I scoured the posts looking for this, I know Deathlike has talked about it but I didn't see any solutions so...

I know the game is supposedly "stuck" in wait mode as part of the dumbing-down modifications.... So, does anyone know where the code is to switch ATB into active mode in FF-II (r1.0 w/Header)?

I'm assuming there's a byte value somewhere that's just hard-coded since the config toggle switch was removed... I'm not concerned about re-instating the toggle in the menu, for my hack I just want to change it to be fixed in "Active" mode...

I mean by now, those of us still playing this shouldn't need the help anymore  :cycle:

I also know that the config option is stored in the SRAM somewhere as well, if anyone knows where that data is I suppose that would be a decent compromise. I'd just start a new game and "fix" the value in the SRAM...

Thanks for any help!
