FF2/4/4A Status Resistances

Does the Glass Helmet have any status resistances?

Was the Poison protection ever set on the Ribbon (exception being FF4A Jap v1.1 or Euro version)?

If the previous answer to that question is yes, AFAIK, it was never enforced.

No, it does have the immune property though.

Yes. The Ribbon protects against Poison, Darkness, Silence, Pig, Mini, Toad, Stone, Instant Death, Slowing Petrification, Petrification, and Curse.

What exactly does that property imply?

Hmm.. that still wouldn't explain Poison resistance being enforced until the revised game.  :bah:

What about the Adamant Armor, Crystal Armor, and Crystal Ring?

You still didn't answer my question about the Immune property.. what exactly is it?

Does protection against Gradual Petrification also imply protection against Petrification and vice versa?

Sorry, I missed this in your other post. It makes it so you only take 1 damage from whatever elements your armor resists.

No, they're separate from one another but nothing in the game actually has one set without the other.

Ah, ok. As an aside, that seems to have precedence over the absorb property of the Cursed Ring.

So, unintentionally, the Gaea Robe is just as resistant as the Aegis Shield... (at least it has some value as solo Cockatrices have been known to be evil )

Do you have any idea what is causing the Poison protection in this game to not work at all?

Also, are there stored messages if you were to inflict toad or mini status via a weapon attack on an enemy?

No idea, I never even noticed it was broken.

Yes:

It's been broken for so many versions, it took 15 years to get fixed.

Ok, here's some definitive info (probably already known):

If a character/enemy is able to do an attack that inflicts multiple statuses... and attempts to inflict it on a target that is immune to at least one status attribute, the target is effectively immune (statuswise) to the entire attack.

I believe that this also applies in an uninterruptable attack sequence (FF4A's ZeromusEG does a multi status attack IIRC).

Working through the equipment, I noticed that this isn't quite true. The Gaea Robe has protection against 1/3 petrification and 2/3 petrification, but not Stone. However, it does seem to protect from Stone as well as 1/3 and 2/3 petrification. Not sure why.

Also, I just realized that I always thought the Gaea Robe had "extra protection" against Quake (from the information from numerous FAQs), but this can't possibly be true. It's not an element, and uses the same damage calculation formula as all other basic spells (Fire1, Ice1, Fire2, etc.). I checked the subroutine, and it didn't have any obvious check for wearing the Gaea Robe, so I doubt there's anything that way. Took me long enough to realize it . . .

It's not as obvious in FF4 than in FF4A. In FF4A, Gradual Petrification is also set with Stone. In FF4, Gradual Petrification and Stone is sharing the same Petrification. In the FF4 editor, you will see that both petrification attacks have "causes stone", which is consistant with this behavior. It is symbiotic behavior.

It's called manual errata. Ever noticed why the Cockatrice's Beak never worked on Palom and Porom, but not Cecil? There's your answer.
