I don't think it's a secret that nobody wants to talk to me. :) Nothing has changed since high school

Wow, my mom passed away shortly after this. :(

I guess I'll post the darn cover I did, after all.

General Discussion / Re: Someone explain this Donkey Farm thing

that's correct.  Amano originally intended Shadow to be a key NPC, the lead ranch hand of the Donkey Farm.  however, it was determined that the cartridge space needed for the braying SPC samples would be prohibitively expensive.  there was also concern that the ESRB would slap a strict rating on the game due to the sheer power of donkey kicks, even when presented as slapstick in nature with the ranchers fully recovering from them.  the 1990s were truly a different era, both in terms of technology and cultural mores.  however, this was one case where compromise didn't hinder the final product.  Amano, while initially disappointed, turned in some of his finest work on Shadow's overhauled garments; his name also fit better once the brightly-colored kerchief and large straw hat were abandoned (his headband retaining elements of the former as a subtle nod to the original sketches).

I haven't posted there since reading the news article on the front page.

I read through it, processed it, took down my avatar and sig, popped into chat to type a single line:

"That's as far as I go. Check please."

And I'm done. RHDN has been taking a crap on its community members all these years, but I've been mostly alright with how they ran things if it meant something.

This stinks of a shameless cash grab and it makes me infuriated to have supported RHDN as a website.

And now I will take off my mask and say I am looking for the free version of Diablo 1 for PC that got released a long time ago, I thought Blizzard started offering it as a free download at one point, or some such?

I am suddenly in the mood to hear Tristram's guitar track and hack some zombies to hamburger.

edit: nvm, I find, I find! Gau find Diablo, is ok

Have you ever thought about what you might try to cut from it, to make some headroom for more bugfixing?

Are you not working on it any further? I don't recall hearing that it got that Opera Lockup thing fixed...what happened, should I be reading stuff?

Um

"Donkey Farm?" This is hilarious to me and has grown so the more I've read and re-read it as I've popped in here over the years.

But I don't get it...lol

But those kinds of sloppy plot details are sort of examined and reworked by PB yes?

:finger:  You are a neighborly gentleman Chronosplit

I guess RHDN had a hullaballoo about romhack classification or some other darn thing. They moved it to a new url as a result, yeah.

I wish I had had the discipline to do more of the GBA script in the snes version but I was drunk on cheap bourbon that year for petty personal reasons.

...I feel that at this time, if my music career is indeed going upward as it seems to be, that I probably will no longer have time for romhacking projects in the future. Music is time-consuming as well, and it frankly stands me a much better chance of earning my living. I would not make it long in computer programming, computers are too hard to negotiate with.

Music is much more natural and quick for me, and I now know enough about computers to fix up the DAW to monitor my sound as I record...

...I did not think this through when I started, I just wanted to know how to max my gold in Chrono Trigger. ZSNES's cheat function taught me what hexadecimal was and how it worked, and from there, my brother egged me into doing a new version of FF6...I've kind of just been doing it to occupy my mind away from music, but my music is now going somewhere, so...?

I uh...I can't plan strategies in real life. People frighten me too much.

lol

Hope it's back up soon, Ripping Hacks Directly Nailed 4 lyfe

 :hmm:

I understand that I'm performing thread necromancy here (the pink-and-red box with the letters in it told me so) but I wanted to kind of begin to understand what this project is about, so I read the thread called "The Project."

I don't think I can wade through 6 pages of forum right now to see what's already been said, but has anyone considered that one thing the game does not do, that it sort of says it's going to do, is explain itself?

The philosophy behind the story's end result is extremely clear. The story itself is not. There are times when even the main plot of the story becomes incomprehensibly full of holes to the point that it utterly ruins dramatic moments. Kefka ambushing you in the Cave To The Sealed Gate is what I'm talking about.

This scene is entirely unnecessary and adds nothing to the plot but the fact that Terra has some ability over the door and the Espers just flew the heck off. Why is Kefka even there? He does nothing in that scene at all. His reveal of Emperor Gestahl's plan being fulfilled exactly falls flat under even the most basic examination of the logic presented by the game. Never mind that it's also coming from a total nitwit monster murder clown. Don't let that guy give plot details, come on.

Hey, is this really supposed to be applied to the v1.0 Japanese ROM as the hash data indicates?  That seems weird to me because the original J2E patch used the v1.1 Japanese ROM.

Uh...I dunno?

I've had probably the worst real life stuff go down since posting this. I dunno. Does that work? Or shouldn't it?

I am too mentally slow right now to even know where to start, I'm sorry.  :isuck:
