Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / Re: FF2/4/4A Battle Order

:wtf:

That would explain why Cecil always goes first, even though Edge clearly beats him out in agility. I wonder, is agility a completely useless stat then?

Agility definitely has an effect on the battle order.  Fight a few battles as soon as you get Young Rydia, and you'll notice that Cecil often takes two actions in a row, since Rydia's still at level 1.

The exception here though is if you have a "First Strike" and have Rydia positioned in the middle slot. Rydia will go first in this instance.

Ok, what's the internal stored hit rate of the Bows? I presume there are none for the arrows.

3423
Ok, thanks.. it is as I thought.

I'll tell you this much... ElvenBow+Lit Arrow on Fusoya == passable damage of ~1000 on any mech in the Giant.

That's awesome compared to the 0-150 pts of damage with the Silence Staff.

Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / FF2/4/4A Stored Evasion Values
« on: December 15, 2007, 09:18:53 PM »
Can someone please give me a few examples of what that data is stored internally?
Examples need to include Heavy armor (0% evade for the Mithril Armor), light armor (10% evade for the Gaea Robe), and really light equipment (40% for the Minerva Robe).

Ok, after doing a lot of Mech trashing with Lightning Arrows, I've come to a conclusion.... I believe it is intended to insure a hit... without actually upping your hit rate and effectively your damage output.

This way, it would allow Fusoya with a Bow+Arrow combo (pick any bow and combine with Thunder/Lightning Arrows) and it wouldn't suck outright. This combo actually makes him useful. :omghax:

Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / Re: FF2/4 The Buggy Avenger Sword
« on: December 15, 2007, 12:32:27 PM »
Another bug...

The guy wielding the Avenger Sword will not attack until the characters preceding him in the attacking order (which was documented in another thread) executes a command. After the preceding character executes a command, the Avenger Sword user attacks like a normal Berserked user.

The only exception here though is if the wielder of said weapon is in the first attacking slot (middle).

This bug does not occur in FF4A (not sure if it was still borked in the US version/Jap v1.0 version of the game).

Well, there are more statistical tweaks than just attribute changes as far as I can tell.

3429
There's a good chance of that...

Are there any armor changes? I've primarily been documenting weapon changes as I go along here...

Mmmm.. new source of harvesting stuff... Kuar (Blackcat in FF2) for Silver Apples (though accessible at one time though) and Clapper (Thunder Dragon in FF4A) for X-Potions (Cure3 Potions).

That's not what I mean, I know it does nothing, I'm curious if setting a spell for it will work. Remember, I don't know how the game determines which weapons can use magic, setting this bit and giving them a spell usually isn't enough to get them working unless they were set up to use magic originally. If the Samurai Bow can cast a spell when I assign one to it it's proof that it was originally intended to use something. I think I have a save here with the Samurai Bow, so I'm going to test real quick.

Edit: Negative in FF2us. I'll give it a try in FF4 later.

How's this change/test going?

My current guess for Bit2 is that Giants (well, maybe specifically Ogres/Mad Ogres) tend to target the wielder of said weapon. If Hand Axe weren't a dummied item, it would be usable by Cid so he could hold a shield as well. However, Hand Axe doesn't happen have the Giants attribute, but I get the feeling that this would have hurt Cid (while in the Dark Elf's Cave), given how he's built to simply take damage up the ass.

A rebirth of the peninsula of power?

Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / Re: FF2/4/4A Monster Resistances
« on: December 15, 2007, 09:50:59 AM »
It looks like the only version in which she is weak to drain is FF4ET. Maybe that's the one with the bug and the rest are correct.

What???

The monster is strong against Drain across the board. She's taking 1/2 damage because of it.

Well, FF2 US v1.0 was buggy enough to have a revision...

In any case, it almost makes sense to me... but that doesn't imply protection against Weak though...  :hmm:

I'd swear you need some sort kind of  "shrugs" icon...
