Anyone tried this yet? It's a new web browser by Google. I'm using it right now, and it gets my stamp of approval.

I read about it earlier but no, I haven't tried it yet.

 :edit:

Using it now, it's meh. I like the default navigation bar but dislike that it can't be customized at all as far as  I can tell. I dislike how tabs appear in the titlebar, how it's saying "titlebar" is misspelled but there's no way to add it to a personal dictionary, and there's no adblock or any similar feature. Some of these things might be possible but half the links on the list of features don't work. I think I'll be sticking with Firefox for now.

Bah to it because there's no 2k support. The ideas are promising, particularly the idea to have full control over mem management.. so that the browser doesn't crap on itself and you can close those windows that consume the most resources (fuck Flash).

Update - it seems to load sites faster than Firefox and IE, but it crapped out on me while watching a YouTube video, something Firefox never does. Still, it's a nice browser to have, but I think I'll stick to Firefox as well

i hear you on Flash.  i despise that blight on the Internet.  it's overused by websites, and too many of these bozos can't code for it properly, so there's memory leaks galore.  i'd disable it due to all the memory (and occasional CPU) disasters it causes, but CNBC and a couple other websites use Flash videos, so i don't bother.

as for Chrome, haven't used it, and in no rush to do so.  i'm currently using IE6, even though i know Firefox to be superior.  i got back in the habit of using IE in late 2006, after having used FireFox for a good year, and inexplicably haven't switched back.

has anybody here used newer versions of Opera?  i've used it up thru Version 7.  while the interface is fast and lightweight, i find the program is slow at actually downloading data from the Internet.  it's like whoever coded it doesn't understand connectivity ... unless it just hates my computer setup for some reason.  if newer versions improve this behavior, i might install them.

i use both firefox and opera 9.24, i've never had a problem with speed from opera.  they seem just as fast as one another.

if firefox wasn't so totally awesome, i'd be using opera all the time, as opposed to when firefox has trouble loading a page.

Why did they call it "chrome"?

The main reason I use Firefox is because in classic-windows set up, the scroll bar on the very right can be clicked and dragged when the cursor is right against the edge. If I use IE or the XP-windows set up, I don't have this and I don't want to precision click the stupid scrollbar.
So if Chrome doesn't have this, I won't be using it.

I wouldn't use Crome right now, it has two vulnerabilities that can cause harm to your computer and even lead to a DoS. So I'd stay away from this for now. It's based on a code that's very outdated, so yeah, these things are fixed in IE and FF, and maybe other browsers.. but not crome.

Wow, I didn't even realize this, I've been conditioned to actually aim my cursor at the scrollbar in order to scroll - though I've been using Firefox as my main browser for the past 3 years. Thanks for the info

I don't know how long it's been since I actually used the scroll bar, I always middle-click and move the mouse to scroll if I want to go up/down pages at a time--something Chrome doesn't support.

I wonder if Vista would allow this easy-click scroll bar? I know XP doesn't or I'd actually use it.

I don't have a middle click on this mouse though I do have a mouse scroll wheel that has that. Sometimes it's just faster to left click the bar and move it yourself though.

I was talking about clicking with the scroll wheel, they don't even make (standard) three button mice anymore, do they? I know they have some with programmable buttons like some keyboards have but I haven't seen an actual three button mouse for sale since I've owned a computer.

The "Wheel" is the middle button. If you can click on the wheel, it's a button. I have no idea if that was true since day 1, but that's how that have been for years.

a few early wheel mice had a thumb button instead of a clickable wheel.  the original wheel mouse (microsoft intellimouse 2.0, i believe) had a clickable wheel.

Where did that come from? I never said that :P
