:bump:

Three months later, and I've now fixed Imp Skimp...mostly. The Remedy animation is now fixed in terms of the positions of the rainbow streams, and most of the delays are now null and void. However, you'll probably still see just a brief pause when something like a Remedy item is used to cure Imp status. Also, when a player casts Imp status on a target other than themselves, they will come out of spell chanting earlier than normal. Not a "problem", per se, but a bit of a departure from the norm.

Another possible fix has occurred to me that might eradicate the delays altogether, but right now I've got other stuff to worry about.

Stop the presses! The new version of Imp Skimp is broken! Battles won't start anymore! :whoa:

Never fear, the fix is in progress and I assure you it will work.

:edit: All clear! Sorry, C.V. Reynolds.

minor but widespread pet peeve i have with your site:

many of your screenshots are slightly smudged looking on Firefox on a PC (they look better on Safari on iPad), due to image resizing.  this got me to checking the original resolutions a couple months back:
753px * 656px
600px * 527px
771px * 669px
480px * 420px
480px * 422px
480px * 416px
etc, etc

not only are none of them 256 x 224/223 (nor an even multiple of it), but it appears that NO TWO IMAGES ARE THE SAME SIZE!!

what godforsaken, horrible program are you using to take your screenshots?! :P  is it running dimensions through a randomizer?  doesn't the emulator have an option to just do a raw-sized output?

this is hardly something that requires changes to existing images (though future ones being standard size would look better), just a pattern that's baffled the hell out of me.

I'm using the PrtScr (print screen) key to take screenshots and then I crop them in GIMP. Yes, there is a problem with the consistency of the resolutions, but I think that's more of a problem with my cropping than any software I'm using. My MO for cropping is just to remove all the surrounding black. Some of them are OK, namely the battle screenshots, but if I cropped all of them the same way, the others would have black bars along the top and bottom.

black bars are quite common in screenshots (e.g. on RHDN), and definitely better than smudging.  and there's more than cropping going on, since those resolutions seem to have a multiplier of 2 or 3 applied (either by emulator or by GIMP).

as mentioned, emulators should have a button to do a raw, non-enlarged output.  also, Alt+PrtScr should just capture the current window, saving you a little work.

if black bars are somehow a deal breaker for you, that's fine.  but if your motivation is tidy-looking images, then realize how the non-integer resizing appears to some website viewers.  there's also filesize/bandwidth issues in having an image with 4x or 9x the needed pixels (as you're just scaling them back down anyway), but that's outside the purview of my whining, as i don't have dial-up. ;)

is it possible to have images on your website sized at 240 * 212 (for example, or whatever they've been cropped to sans multiplier), while keeping a constant 256 * 224 size for the surrounding table cell?  that way, you'd avoid the dreaded black bars, and just have varying sizes of your beautiful orange background surrounding them?

another way would be to always do 256 * 224/223 size (i.e. raw emulator output, no cropping), and replace the black bars with transparent pixels.  but i have no idea how to do that, or what image formats support that.

OK, a lot of this is new information for me. My emulator is ZSNES, full screen, FWIW.

I guess at some point I should regulate the resolutions of those images, but right now that's really low on my priority list.

- understood.  i don't consider it urgent either, but just had to get on record how bat guano the myriad resolutions are.

With the 1.2 version of the patch, the game crashes when a battle, with characters riding magitek armors, starts. Tested on a clean rom, v1.0 and 1.1, etc. etc.

Your new site looks quite nice, Leet Sketcher! I do miss the overview page though, the one with all the patches listed including brief descriptions. Makes it easier to Ctrl-F for something.

I do however have something more pressing to report regarding your site, and it is that at least one link is broken. I forget which one; I think it was a zip file. Sorry for the vagueness, it was some few weeks ago I noticed it.

Edit: I just remembered, it's the 7z/rar/zip links on this page: http://l33t5k37ch3r.altervista.org/y-equip-relics.html

Ah, thank you. I have now fixed those links. Do let me know if you find any other broken links.

Thank you! :childish: :cookie:

Yeah, I agree that the old layout was a lot simpler, and it was a lot of fun writing those custom codes for sorting and filtering the table (even though they didn't always work). It's also a lot more work to add a new patch. At least this is more organized.

If you want a way to find stuff easier based on text, I did just add a search engine.

Uh, no, I'm sorry. I hadn't noticed your post, I apologize.

I also haven't had that problem occur to me, ever. But I will test it anyway, for the sake of due diligence.

:edit:
You're right, there was a problem, and now it's fixed!

:bump: Found and fixed another bug in Imp Skimp. This one caused Bio Blaster to (graphically) backfire during back attacks, possibly during side and pincer attacks too depending on Edgar's position.

Be sure to apply the reverse patch to remove older versions of this patch before applying the new patch.
