I went looking for news on romhacking.net and found that the site was back up.  :)

I haven't done anything to FF4MapEdit since the site's been down, but I haven't been idle, either.  My other project took off like a rocket.  :omg:

Yeah we made a thread on romhacking :)

During the break I did very little, I needed an information from here.

Good job, Entroper, what is your other project?

I've seen that link before the site went off, but couldn't understand, what is the goal of the project :)

It's a randomizer for FF1.  I dunno if you've seen Zelda Randomizer, it's basically the same thing but for FF1.  You load up your FF1 ROM, it randomly shuffles the locations of treasure, the contents of shops, the levels of magic spells, etc. and spits out a new ROM.

Hmm doesn't that destroy the balance? Imagine in first shop you get Excalibur? :D

You can't buy Xcalber, because it doesn't appear in any shops in the original game.  But you can find the ADAMANT in ToF, maybe.  Doesn't do you much good if you don't know where the TAIL is...

I'm glad the forum's back up! It went down the same day I was going to try out Entroper's World map editor for FF4.  :lame:

Made some headway on a little side project involving Super Mario Land during the downtime, though.  :cycle:
I update my graphics thread on almost a daily basis, so keep an eye out for new stuff!

My point is you may get end-game item just at the beginning of the game and that is what destroy the balance, because you will have OP item from the start or no chance to gather enough gil to buy it.

...are we back in business?  This page took 5 minutes to load, which is about what was happening before it went down last time.  It seems like something is still going on.

I got that, but it's not really supposed to be balanced (not that FF1 was terribly well-balanced to begin with).  Some things will be easier, others will be harder.  You have to play the game differently every time you generate a new seed because you'll have different advantages and disadvantages compared to vanilla.

The balance is the difference between a good game and bad game.

Different then Temper + Haste? I doubt that

Although I'm huge FF-series fan, but somehow I dont recall my FF1 nes play. So I decide to play PSP version (few days ago). What can I say ... no back-row, no summons, no blue,... nothing exotic. Damaging magic sux (except hit all). Only viable option are physical hits, boosted with Temper+ Haste.

TMPR doesn't work in the NES version.  :P  And it's much, much harder than the GBA/PSP versions, which were heavily nerfed.

A lot of things make a game good or bad, nothing is "the" difference.  Anyway, it doesn't sound like FF1 Randomizer is for you.  That's okay.  Plenty of people have been enjoying it on Twitch in the last two weeks.  :)
