So basically I tried downloading and patching both the FF2US Impossible hack and the FF2US Solo Cecil hack, but both patches always results in a messed up game. I'm using LunarIPS to patch the roms, and I'm 99.99% sure that I'm using a clean rom (The 0.01% is due to the fact that it's not working >_>). I've tried numerous times to patch the rom but every attempt resulted in failure.

Rom: Final Fantasy II (U) (V1.0) [!].smc
Emulator: Snes9x 1.51
Patch:  FF2us Impossible V3.0b.ips & FF2usHT Solo Cecil Edition v1.2b.ips
Patcher: LunarIPS

And yes, I patched each hack with a separate, clean rom. I've had troubles patching other hacks as well (Some Lufia II hacks from GameFAQs).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please, and thank you.

First, I'd use NSRT to verify if the ROM is good in the first place. If it is good, it will show up in the database.

Second, if it is a good ROM, you may need to add/remove the header to the ROM, which can be done by using the same tool.

Looks like a header issue to me, the new font seems to be overwriting the wrong characters. As Deathlike2 said, verify your ROM with NSRT and try adding a header if it's good.
