Game Modification Station / FF3us: Item type sort issue
« on: February 02, 2012, 10:22:33 PM »
About 6-7 or more years ago someone (Master ZED?) created a patch that makes it so when you change an item's icon to something else not on the predetermined list the sort command won't remove that item.

I cannot find this patch on my old archives.  Anyone know where this data list is stored?

Thanks.  Is this second incarnation complete?  If not, does it have an ETA?

I have only done the items, magic, characters and some miscellaneous data right now.  Monsters haven't been touched.  I don't have an ETA on that mainly because I've got too many projects ahead of it...

to reiterate: my patches are intended for headered ROMs.  are you applying them to headered ROMs?

Yes.  If the others worked I wonder why this one didn't?  I redownloaded the ROM several times from 2 separate places and even used MY ROM I dumped from my cart.  I guess I'll go in and manually do the changes...blah.  lol

broken how?  and do French, German, and Spanish work alright?

EDIT: my patches are all meant for headered ROMs.  that's 3,146,240 bytes for SoE.  i don't know what yours are intended for, as you don't specify.  whoa, i also failed to specify.  guess i started doing that in 2006. :/

i've been meaning to put a catch-all note at the top of my patch webpages, but evidently this was too Herculean a task for me to complete since i first thought of it in 2008 or so.  rush me, and i might sprain something!

The patch for the regular PAL Secret of Evermore (E) [!] ROM when applied causes the game to freeze shortly after the Squaresoft logo...  The other patches work just fine.

Yes, high res/dpi scans of the cart itself.  And if possible one scan of a back label in clean crisp shape.

My FF2usHT+ (Final Fantasy II US HardType +) change quite a few AIs.

The second incarnation of that hack will have a completely overhauled AI.

I could probably draw you a vector version in illustrator with relative ease when I have some time

Someone beat you to it.  ;)  The main thing I need are the cart label scans in high res/dpi for various games.

Thank you.  The update to this topic is myself and someone else are working on becoming "experts" in restoration of SNES/SFC carts.  Right now we are getting together some preliminary SNES cart front labels together as well as I've made a good starting template.  I'll be checking into finding a good suitable color matching paint for both Super Nintendo and Super Famicom carts as well.

The major thing I need right now are high resolution high dpi scans of a few SNES carts both front and back as level horizontally or vertically as possible so we can clean them up for reproduction.

I'll be trying to find a local print shop to print the preliminary labels on shiny sticker paper with adhesive on the back.  I've got some donor carts I can use to test the labels on.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Secret of Evermore EasyType version 1.0 BETA is out as of 1/17/2012!

(posting here in response to a post seen on ff6hacking.com)

Quote from: JCE3000GT
-Issue #3: When you gain your 2nd level to level 3 your "for level up" experience number will be in a long data format. In other words it will show a number over 4,000,000 which covers up the text. This is because the game doesn't allow you to gain more than 1 level at a time and the assembly routine cannot parse the correct number.

my Erratic Levelling Fix actually addresses this:
http://www14.brinkster.com/assassin17/soe_patches.htm

by allowing you to gain more than 1 level at a time.  (it doesn't change the "for level up" display code, but shouldn't need to.)

feel free to turn this into a general purpose thread for your patch (good work, btw), since my one post doesn't really deserve its own thread.

Excellent!  Thank you.  I will definitely use it.  :)

assassin, your inbox is full!

English patch (E) is broke...

I've updated all the other versions with your patch, and uploaded them to the website as well as added preliminary support for the 2-player hack.

Gaming Discussion / Need a huge favor, scanning carts
« on: January 18, 2012, 05:40:46 PM »
I need a huge favor.  I'm working on creating a template label for SNES and SFC cartridges for me to print.  Trouble is no one on the internet has a high resolution clean scan of a Super Nintendo cart (front or back) or a Super Famicom cart (front or back).

I'm working on creating new labels for my SNES/SFC carts and thus I need a good quality source scan into a file that isn't compressed.

Anyone?

*edit*
Here's a hugely scaled down version of what I've recreated from scratch.  I shrunk it by 85% to be better visually on a forum.
