Chrono Trigger:
1) Add a few more story tweaks... we'd love to see wtf happened to Schala
Play Chrono Cross, you'll find out what happens to here then.

My point was that there are compelling methods of making said ports and milk more money (as if they really needed it).

That's fine, I'm in no rush. I'm sure there are other things that have not yet come to mind in regards to FF4 anyways.

Cecil's Deathbringer (I think this is the Black sword in 2US) almost never works -- except on the Roc enemy, where it works almost 100% of the time.  It may be that the success rate is high, but most of the monsters you face while you have Deathbringer are immune to instant death?

Yeah, immunity and Cecil's strength are the problem, most things that are vulnerable to it can also be killed in a single hit. If you take a trip back to the Damcyan area after getting it and fight Red Marshmallows or Yellow Jellies it works on them, they, along with the Zu, are pretty much the only things you can't kill in a single hit and aren't immune to instant death at that point.

I usually recommend fighting the monsters north of Mt. Ordeals (FF4's peninsula of power), since they are the next best thing to take advantage of this weapon.

Remember that if the target loses all its HP first from the hit, no status effects are applied.

I really wish this carried over to FF5, I just started playing through again and I'm really getting tired of the Mage Masher inflicting silence on an enemy that's going to die two seconds later anyway...

To some extent, I agree. On the other hand, you have to factor in the death to undead attacks, which totally matter. FF6's handling of death to undead is far better in this instance.

a big reason for some of these is because they need to be translated and would have a smaller audience outside of Japan, but they should definitely release Tetris Attack, and start releasing more Square games since it seems they've already released at least one. I know they prolly won't release the final fantasy games as they are still making money on the remakes, but I can see Chrono Trigger being a really hot item, along with Secret of Mana, and Seiken Densetsu 3.

All of them are more likely to get a port than just be released for the Wii.

you'd think that, and yet we still haven't seen them yet, this way they wouldn't have to update them at all, where as a port they'd almost have to update some things to warrant buying it again.

Perhaps, but there are compelling stuff they can do to add value, instead of wasting away those games as is. I should get around to playing Treasure Hunter G.. the game was already translated by other romhackers, so

Secret of Mana:
1) Add more areas to explore.. mainly to fix the orb "gaps".. pretty much finish whatever it was that never made it to the fabled SNES-CD
2) Retweak the script... the SOM series is the worst at this

Chrono Trigger:
1) Add a few more story tweaks... we'd love to see wtf happened to Schala
2) Add a hard mode for New Game+, because playing the same enemies at crappy HP with uber weaponry+attacks is too stupidly easy

Seiken Densetsu 3:
1) Like the previous SD (SOM == SD2), the script needs retweaking - which also means an official English translation as well
2) Add a few more ares to explore.. mostly for leveling up late and story
3) Fix the massive bugs in the game

Once they do all that (and more), it is a gimme moneymaker.

hmm... Isn't INT broken? Would that be fixable via FFHackster?

IIRC, yes for the first question. Find someone else to fix it though (maybe ask Grond nicely?).

That's why you keep anything to a minimum on Gamefaqs.

Besides, this thread will probably be Gamefaqs douchebaggery v2.

and even though they have all the systems done, you guys do realize that each game has it's own emulator right? it's not like there is an NES emulator, but there is a SMB1 emulator, and a SMB2 emulator, etc.

Of course, it is a game emulator, not a system emulator.

I don't have a Wii, but Nintendo certainly could make tons more $$$.

I'm not exactly sure why they are holding up.. but for sure they have to get their emulation done right first before they release new ones.... people are usually aware of the minute differences after all.

Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / Re: FF2 v1.1 bug fixed?!
« on: December 29, 2007, 06:30:50 PM »
Ok, it is confirmed that gradual petrification is wonky with FF2 v1.0. It seems that the game is not always properly able to execute petrification status (effectively killing the enemy) when that time comes. This is fixed in FF2 v1.1.

Although this is not a good/scientific test (I will get around to testing this), using FF2USHT exhibits issues revolving gradual petrifcation and some monsters. I'd say it has more to do with the game and the ATB system than anything.

« on: December 29, 2007, 05:59:48 PM »
1) Avoid FF4A US or Jap v1.0 at all costs. Use FF4A Jap v1.1 or Eur version instead.

FF2 v1.0 had ATB related issues... hence a FF2 v1.1 was born.

Hmm.. I'm trying to remember what would happen if Kain had the Legend Sword equipped before he left the party...

Some peculiarities I've noticed:

Edward's Dreamer's Harp seems to inflict sleep status only occasionally.  The Lamia Harp inflicts charm status quite reliably, though.

It works fine, but it has more to do with Edward's awful hit rate until he gains some levels.

It always works for me. It never works on Mt. Ordeals though because every monster is resistant against Death. Remember that if the target loses all its HP first from the hit, no status effects are applied.

Is there any particular reason why Porom has the Cure potion command... yet you can buy those Healing Staffs at Mysidia...?
