Well there are three groups of the drop rate.  Each 64 bytes $40 adds a 25% extra chance to drop the items.  Unless all four possible items are the same in which case the monster will always drop said item regardless.  *see "Tower" Key

*edit*
Now granted I'm not 100% sure on the percentages--this was based on my old observations.

*edit 2*
Oh and there is a typo in that HTML file.

Quote
Example: Index 37 x 40 = 77.  Each 40 you add is about 25% more chance.

Should read:
Quote
Example: Index 37 + 40 = 77.  Each 40 you add is about 25% more chance.

Offset -  Monster name -  Lv - HP - Attack -  Defense -  Magic Defense - Special bit - Item drop - Attack sequence - Extra bit - Attack statuses - Status defenses/immunities - Weakness - Spell power - Monster type - Counter attack

731BD PinkPuff (FF2us) 60 10 27 5F 99 C0 25 68 7D 58 00 00 08 7F 20
731BD Flan Princess (FF4ET) 60 10 27 5F 99 C0 25 A8 7D 58 00 00 08 7F 20

Not all monsters have all of these fields, but up until the Attack sequence they are all the same data.

Hmmm.. after killing a number of Pinkpuffs now in FF4ET.. is it me or is the frequency of drops increase for just that battle?

731BD PinkPuff (FF2us) 60 10 27 5F 99 C0 25 68 7D 58 00 00 08 7F 20
731BD Flan Princess (FF4ET) 60 10 27 5F 99 C0 25 A8 7D 58 00 00 08 7F 20

The BOLD byte is the item drop + frequency.  Which means yes, the FF4ET PinkPuff/Flan Princess is in the highest item drop % bracket.

are there any other locations of the Pinkpuff in FF2/4 other than the small area on floor F5?

In FF4 and FF2us that's the only location.

It's probably in the 01 bank with the rest of the item menu code.

I just can't find it.

I think it is worth extracting this list.. to smack people over the head as to why FF4ET is certainly different than FF2 US.

Offtopic: What really bugs me is when people say that FF2us was FF4ET with some stuff changed.  Its just not.  Just like FFMQ was here first before the Jpn release.

Would you care to clarify?

Well he says: "Items Dropped (Easytype Version)", so I assumed he meant FF4ET.

You do realize that he fell into the same mistake to interchange FF4ET with FF2...

I've read at a couple of sites in the past that Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was released in America before it was released in Japan as Final Fantasy USA and Mystic Quest Legend in Europe.
