Data Relocation info
« on: March 31, 2010, 07:54:04 PM »
Hey guys I was just speaking with Lord J and I asked if he would be willing to make his editor compatible with improved versions of FF6

so Leno n Brethren

can you give me the locations of all the data u improved on like adding 12 letters for character's names, 20 letters for spells, items etc., areas for custom magic learning for other characters, interceptor status, music locations, and basically almost everything u guys worked on n improved on so Lord J could enable the data to be edited much easier ;)

well no disrespect man but when Lord J says he will do something he will do it (it may take a long ass time but it'll get done lmao)

I mean I was the one to convince him 2 put a dialog editor in the new multi editor

Lord J can ask the project leaders himself; he doesn't need an attention-whoring no-name such as yourself to acquire this information for him.

2 things...

1. You have 4 posts and he has 227 on this forum, he's more active than you are.  Doesn't that mean that you need to mind your P's and Q's when coming to a new place REGARDLESS of the topics or posts?  And calling him a "whoring"-blah blah is rather juvenile isn't it?
2. Second, if the project members are going to approve or deny the request that is for them to decide and speak about.

I'm not being rude or mean, I am just passing along some advice.

I've been here for two years. Just because I don't post much doesn't mean I don't know what I'm on about. The wise man says the least, etc.

You seem to be under the impression that Lenophis doesn't share examples of extreme stupidity on IRC. Unfortunately, this means I know precisely how he feels about this matter, whereas you do not. Please don't tell me I shouldn't be making assumptions when, er, I'm not. :)

I don't care how long you've been here, you are not active so that doesn't give you the right to be the all-knowing member and speak for someone else you are NOT.  And, less you forget you used a personal attack and that is something that a "wise man" would not do.  Learn some restraint and simply post with wisdom.

I never claimed to be a wise person, only that wisdom comes from saying only what is necessary. Nor does wisdom soften the blow when doing so would not have the desired effect.

And to prove I'm not just pushing my own thoughts on the matter:

Kinda funny though as I look back, we have released a bunch of stuff already:

Bug fixes - Anchors Aweigh, Bad Decoration, Border Crossing, Can't Lose for Winning, Esper's Battle menu, For What Ails Ya, and I condemn thee to hell!

Miscellaneous tweaks - Always an Esper, Economizer MP, Elemental display, Holy randomness batman!, ignore defense no longer ignores safe and shell, and offering.

With much more to come.

119 bugs fixed and counting.

ok, to Aerdan, piss off cuz there was no need 4 u being a dick head, say what the hell you wanna say on the internet because honestly bro, its the internet lol who gives a fuck? lol, its actually a little sad on your part

as 4 JCE3000GT thnx 4 the luv n back up I appreciate it :)

what this is is a simple request that will prove beneficial to this team a lot more then it will for everybody else, it will make editing 4 them much faster and efficient so that they don't need to rely on ASM hacking for most things

so I intended that to help out these guys

they r busy doing there thing and Lord J is busy doing his, as well as me being busy taking care of things I have 2 take care of, if I can establish a connection to get shyt done, then I did more then my part as a supporter

if Leno wants to give me the info to give to Lord J that's fine, if not then he can send it to him himself if he wants to

You really don't seem to get it.

If Lenophis wants Lord J to have the information, Lenophis will give Lord J the information directly. Quite frankly, there is no fucking way I could consider you a trustworthy person, given...

  • You constantly post things in the wrong forum (including this thread).
  • You constantly use AIMglish and other txtspk.
  • You have never contributed anything of worth to this community or to Pandora's Box.

Cool it, guys. We don't need this argument here. :shadow:

On topic, it sounds to me like Lord J simply wants to add support for reading this expanded data in his editor. That seems perfectly acceptable to me, knock out some of the hardcoded addresses and lengths. He should contact us/anyone else who has worked on similar hacks directly, though.

I just let him know to email u or Leno, he just asked me to ask u guys is all :p

I never meant 4 this so-called little drama 2 ensue though sorry guys :p

@ any rate this will hopefully level the playing field when it comes to the heavy stuff ;)

he said depending on the amount of data given it can take anywhere from a week to a month if he really gets into it

Wow... just wow...

I'm inclined not to post in a topic that has gotten so heated, but I have some constructive things to add.

1. I've emailed some info to Lord J about some data that currently has no editor for it. This would benefit not only PB but the entire FF6 hacking community. I'll keep a lid on the exact nature of this data until I hear back from Lord J.

2. I plan to release a patch for the 24-bit HP (not just giving them a space, but the whole code to handle all the specials that affect HP, etc.) quite soon. This has long been incorporated into PB, but it's so deep, and I never bothered to make a separate patch for it, that separating it out may take me a few hours.

So, I'm not going to set a date, because my nature is to always miss deadlines, but I'm thinking the next day I have a bit of free time, it'll get mostly done.
5/31/16 - I have an assembly of the battle portion of C2, relocated to the F0 bank, which has both vanilla and patch code in my dropbox. I'll be updating it with additional patches as I have time. I will *not* be releasing it publicly, but ask me for the link and I'll share.
