* Dragonsbrethren considers renaming this thread Movies of Mega Man Playthroughs...

Anyway, Dr. Wily's scheme for world domination has faild yet again:

Mega Man VI Reverse

As the name suggests I do the stages in the opposite order I usually do...and it's disturbingly easy. Just ignore the first stage of Mr. X's fortress, I was...broken or something. I'll finish the Bass II run later.

The old page will redirect there.

Another new version, get it at the guy's page for the time being, I'll get it up on RHDN and my archive in an hour or so:

http://www.geocities.jp/rock5easily/

 :edit:

It's on RHDN now.

 :edit:

And the archive. The date idea doesn't work so well with two versions released on the same day (about 23 hours apart, but the same day nonetheless), it's still better than a made up version number though.

:edit:

Run 1

Looks like you can't clear that spike corridor without using Rush Jet at the very beginning at least.

Mega Man II reminded me that I've been meaning to play through one of my favorite hacks again:

The Adventures of Bass II - Part 1

It's been a long time since I played this last and I forgot a lot of the level layouts, I was actually more surprised by how much I remembered though. I'll finish up the rest of the stages tomorrow.

Mega Man V (NES)

Recorded with Nestopia 1.40. It starts out pretty good, it ends pretty awful, but it's the whole game for those of you who've never played it before.

MM5 is one of my favorites, but I really have a hard time giving them a specific order, I love them all! I plan on recording a playthrough of it tonight.

 :edit:

Preliminary archive is available here. The layout is kind of ugly, I never did get around to making a good layout for the hack pages. One thing to note is that since I used the dates attached to the patches all of these hacks are one date higher than when I posted them, stupid timezones. I guessed on the October 12th patch, since I didn't have access to it anymore, it should be right.

I edited all the posts with movies in this thread to make note of which date version they were recorded with.

Oh well, I'm pretty sure it didn't include one as I would've added it to the entry at RHDN if it did.

I'm considering changing the version number to the date of release, I think this would be better than assigning them an arbitrary number based on when I started downloading them (not the mention I could easily miss an update if I forget to check one day). Thoughts?

I got the Spark Man screen too but I wasn't 100% sure if it was copied from there or not, as I wasn't comparing the two side-by-side.

I split this off into its own topic since I had a feeling it would completely take over the movie thread soon. There's another update, this guy must update his hack daily, which is impressive considering how much each update has added. As the RHDN description says this version has a new results screen, adds a few screens from Wily's fortress, and adds even more customs. The new custom stages have what looks to be a preliminary tileset, just black and white, but the screens themselves are still fun to play.

I plan on throwing an archive page on Dbi so anyone who wants to can watch the old movies. Did anyone happen to hold onto the original archive 1.0 came in? This new version has a readme, 1.01 didn't, I want to be sure 1.0 didn't either.

I think using shorter names is better than sacrificing menu aesthetics like RPGOne did though, I know they had planned on fixing all of the expanded menus for the 2.0 patch but some of them ended up really ugly as a result of expansion. That said the expanded battle magic menu isn't too bad, but they would've been better off switching to two columns like FF3us, that's easier said than done though.

The Bomb summon isn't fire elemental though, so that does shoot your theory down somewhat.

Yes, but Bombs are what burned her village in the first place.

If anyone else is confused by that new (vertical) spike pit in Gravity Man's stage, it's not actually a bottomless pit:

Demonstration Video

Of course you can just use Rush to cross as I did in my run above and have no risk of dying here. Leno covers the new horizontal spike corridor in his video above.

Rockman 5 Endless (1.01) - Run 2

Two runs, the first ends at 50, the second at 383. There are brand new screens in addition to the ones taken from Stone Man's stage.

:edit:

This video was recorded with the October 13th version.

Rockman 5 Endless (1.01) (NES)

280 more screens than my last best:

That death was really lame though.

There's a new version out, I labeled it 1.01 on RHDN because the page doesn't have an official version number anywhere. The update adds some screens from Stone Man's stage that I've seen so far, here's my first attempt:

Rockman 5 Endless (1.01) - Run 1

Just one run, I die against Napalm Man. It starts a few screens in because I wasn't going to bother recording a movie at first. Note the new screen counter in the menu.

Rockman 5 Endless (NES) - Run 2

I forget how many attempts I made in this one but I stopped after dying at 70. Considering people have gotten over 1,000 in MM9's endless stage I have a lot of improving to do...I want to see you guys make a few attempts at this too. Recorded with Nestopia 1.40.

 :edit:

Rockman 5 Endless (NES) - Run 4

This is the one I got 103 on.

These videos were recorded with the October 12th version.
