Tips to make eBay surfing faster?
« on: June 15, 2009, 08:36:08 PM »
So why has ebay got to be so bloated that it makes any web browser on any computer run like its on 133mhz P1 processor?  I've tried everything in Opera, Firefox and IE to make it load faster on this computer and about 5 others so I know its not me or the computers or the browsers.  So I need someone to give me a hand on what settings my main browser (Opera) need in order for it not to run like molasses.  I'm not a computer noob so feel free to use whatever terminology suits you.  I'm guessing there is a set group of settings I could do that makes it fun faster but I can't seem to find one.  I'm growing annoyed to the extent that I'm almost done with ebay in general.

i'm not seeing a problem with it?  the ebay front page loaded in 1.14 seconds, a search page in just over 2,  and an auction in 2.31.  the times are pulled from the counter in fasterfox.

It takes easily 20 seconds to load a search page completely before I can do anything.  In the meantime my entire browser (and sometimes computer(s) freeze).

That's strange, I've never had any problem like that with eBay. It actually loads faster for me in IE8 with Flash enabled than FX3 without, so I doubt that's the culprit.

that's odd. i mean, when i load a search page, fasterfox keeps counting until around 15 or 20, so something is loading all that time, but the page "looks" fully loaded at 2 seconds, and i can browse it fine.

Like I said it seems to completely freeze up IE and Opera.  I've tried all the loading settings in Opera and haven't found the one that lets me scroll down while the page loads.  It is driving me up the wall.

I suggest to turn off all plugins and/or addons and see if that helps.
