FF4ET Equipment Changes
« on: December 12, 2007, 11:36:22 PM »
I'm pretty much aware of a number of equipment changes that were made..

I'll probably do a complete list later.... but I did notice a few things.

Drain Sword: There is no more Giants/Zombie/Flan modifier applied to this weapon.
Drain Spear: Same as Drain Sword.
Bamboo Stick: After Piggy is afflicted on the target by this weapon, the Piggy won't revert.. which is gotta be awesome. Obviously this weapon was the brainchild for FF4A's Piggy Stick.  :bah: Unfortunately there isn't a weapon that inflicts Frog or Mini....

Bamboo stick?  I don't remember that weapon.  What does it replace from the FF2us version?

It's the Piggy Sword, it replaces the Mythril Sword and can be found in Baron Castle's basement (The path to Odin, you find an Elixir there in every other version).

Hmm interesting.  That gives me an idea...

The Silver Sword sucked anyways since the Slumber Sword is better. The Bamboo Stick replaces the Silver Sword in drops as well (the Mithril Golem drops it as a result).

Are there any weapons in FF4ET that even touch the flan multiplier? It doesn't seem like it...

I need to look through Easy Type's weapons again, it's been a long time since I went over them.

I also need to correct you, there is no such thing as a Bamboo Sword in Easy Type. The weapon is called "こぶたのしない" Piglet/Piggy's Sword. It's the same name the Piggy's Stick uses in the Japanese version of FF4 Advance.

Edit: No weapons have the extra damage against flans property. Do you want me to list all of Easy Type's properties?

I'm basing it off your "barebones" translation of FF4ET... which I presume is yours.

Sure, why not.. I doubt that much has changed from FF4...

Ah, that thing comes back to haunt me again. All that is is a normal FF4 item list copied into Easy Type with some minor changes made based on the "FF4 Everything You Know is Wrong" website. I plan on releasing a real Easy Type translation one of these days, I've got all the correct item and monster names done now, it's just a matter of the script and menu hacking (With all we've been documenting these past few days that looks like it might be a non-issue soon).

I'll get the list for you later on.

Sort of off topic but the one thing that I REALLY liked about Easy Type was the subtle map changes, like the save sport on the 3rd lunar core.  I will be adding that feature in my mod.

Okay, I really don't need to make a list, I'll just point out the few changes:

Blood Sword & Lance: Lost their effectiveness against Giants, Flans, and Undead

Coral Sword: Lightning elemental, still has 4x damage against Spirits.

Dwarf Axe: 4x damage against Mages.

Piggy's Stick: Causes pig status, obviously.

Goddess (Artemis) Bow: 4x damage against Dragons

Well, they are retweaked to not suck.

Quote
Coral Sword: Lightning elemental, still has 4x damage against Spirits.

This weapon seems to quietly die a horrible death quickly.

Quote
Dwarf Axe: 4x damage against Mages.

Too bad its lifetime is kinda short though....

Quote
Piggy's Stick: Causes pig status, obviously.

Another one and done weapon...

Quote
Goddess (Artemis) Bow: 4x damage against Dragons

And why didn't they do this earlier?  :bah:

Are there any armor changes? I've primarily been documenting weapon changes as I go along here...

Mmmm.. new source of harvesting stuff... Kuar (Blackcat in FF2) for Silver Apples (though accessible at one time though) and Clapper (Thunder Dragon in FF4A) for X-Potions (Cure3 Potions).

Only the Ribbon, which is pretty surprising, I figured there would be more changes than that.

Well, there are more statistical tweaks than just attribute changes as far as I can tell.

Ok, here's a "near" complete list of  equipment changes.. let me know if there's any missing that probably should be looked into (mostly the rare stuff is
that tough to get).. and for confirmation (especially with some of the weapon hit rates). This list is in the order you most likely will get the weapons...

Bow: 10 attack, 40% hit rate
CrossBow: 20 attack, 45% hit rate
Coral Sword: 4x to spirits, thunder elemental, 45 attack, 99% hit rate
Piggy's Stick: inflict piggy status, 51 attack, 99% hit rate
Great Bow: 30 attack, 50% hit rate, +3 STR
Blood Spear: drain elemental, 64 attack, 99% hit rate, -10 to all stats
Killer Bow: 40 attack, 60% hit rate, +5 STR
Blood Sword: drain elemental, 77 attack, 80% hit rate, -5 to all stats
Ogre Axe: 4x to giants, 96 attack, 99% hit rate?, +5 STR
Elven Bow: 4x to mages, 50 attack, 85% hit rate, +5 WIS
Avenger Sword: 100 attack, 99% hit rate, +10 STR, AGI, VIT, -10 WIS, WILL
Poison Axe: 4x to giants, inflict poison status, 105 attack, 99% hit rate?
Yoichi's Bow: 60 attack, 70% hit rate, +10 STR
Rune Axe: 4x to mages, 120 attack, 99% hit rate?
"Dark Suit": 24 defense, 15 magic defense, 70% evade, +5 AGI
Minerva Robe: 20 defense, 4 magic defense, 40% evade, +10 STR, AGI, VIT
Artemis Bow: 4x to dragons, 80 attack, 80% hit rate, +10 STR, AGI, VIT, -10 WIS, WILL

Some notes and commentary:
All bows get a 10% hit rate boost...
The Blood weaponry is rebalanced and are really nice (though personally the Blood Spear should be stronger...
The Ogre Axe really can beat the living crap out of other Ogres :P
The rebalanced Avenger Sword can kick the crap outta shit than the original...
Poison Axe isn't as inferior as it was before.. but not by much..
Rune Axe actually doesn't seem like a small damage bump this time around..
Dark Suit currently now counters the adverse AGI drop of the Murasame, instead of a slight drop.
Minerva does slightly worse stat boosts while having no adverse effects (though, I will still end up having Rydia equip the Sorceror's Robe anyways for more magic defense) which is helpful when it comes to boosting Rosa's crappy stats..
Artemis Bow is simply the weapon it should have been long ago... this combined with the retweaked Minerva is the ultimate combo I would prefer instead of the FF2/4/4A POS.
