I am thinking of creating a hack of FF5. I tried using your Multi Editor, and found it to my liking.

However, I noticed some critical bugs in it. The application seems to close at random, and when I edit a monster's HP, the MP is set to zero.

I realize this editor is six years old, but is it possible that the author or someone else could work out its most critical bugs?

Thanks for coming and posting.  I don't know if I even have the source code anymore.  I do however plan on coding another editor sometime before the end of the year,  If I find the source I'll see if I can locate some of the bugs.  If you can reproduce the bugs please let me know how to so I can track them down.

I will continue experiment with it, at least for a while. If I come across more bugs, I'll be quick to describe them here.

By the way, in case you haven't read this guide yet, check the link. It may give you an idea of what those "unknown" variables can be.

Wow, awsome.  This is helpful as my docs are incomplete.   :omg:

I believe that document is where I got the info for the AI dump in my FFV spreadsheet, among other details.

Entroper, that would be nice... I actually need to figure out some details to the new equipment but AFAIK, they aren't that special for the most part (yes, even the Force Shield/Sorceror's Mantle don't really impress me).

JCE, I'm just surprised you just found treasure.

I gotta get around to start writing that FF4 doc... it's unfortunate that the best doc out there is BSiron's FF2 US algo doc.. and that's not too good.

At this point, just expect a complete rewrite of the editor, since this "newfound info" will require some work done to locate the proper addresses.

Then you can count me in as a beta-tester, if needed.

If you are indeed referring to me then yes, there is a complete rewrite planned.  I need to get some data together and sketch out my GUI design and go from there.  I'll let you guys know when the beta test process will start.

Do you still want me to report bugs in the previous editor?

Also, I do have some ideas for the new editor if you would like to hear.

So far no, I've been working like crazy on both of my jobs.  Once I get the money I need I'm going to get a reduction in hours so I can have more freetime.  I'm still going through my mind on how the interface is going to work.

Any suggestions on GUI anyone?

Sorry, I'm not too good at graphic design.
However, I've been learning some basic ROM hacking, and just did some work on my own, in favour of my FFV project

This list explains nearly all values in the "monster" section in the FFV rom.
The values neatly start at offset $100000+header , and each monster cramps up 32 Bytes in size. Bosses are located at offset +$2000, after the 256 "normal" monsters.

Other than location, that's exactly like the list in FF6. Come on, Squaresoft...

119 bugs fixed and counting.
