Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / Re: FF4 Algo - Input Requested

What I'm wondering, does it actually randomly change, or are there just four different formations, like there are two different trap door formations? It would be simple to make this monster using the exact same method the trap door uses if there are four different formations. If there is only one formation and it randomly turns into one of the four monsters then that is new behavior, but I suspect it's the former.

2) Master Flan can't be targeted...

I'm pretty sure this was intentional, and making it targetable was actually breaking that battle. Where I'm certain it was unintentional is another monster that uses a similar (I'm guessing the same) formation, the bog witch and tiny toads. This was a problem inherited from the WSC version, it's possible whoever designed the master flan (who's name should really have been "flan master"...) battle thought that was how the formation was intended to work.

the Metamorpha monster actually does change the monster into 4 random monsters (Behemoth, Blue Dragon, White Dragon, Ahriman).. which was not originally possible in FF4. I don't think there are that many actual additions though.

Are you sure, or is it just four different battle formations? That would have been possible in the original game.

First update of the new year. The blurb at the bottom of Rock5easily's webpage mentions starting a wiki (probably for all of the hacking information on the page, and not the hacks).

Yeah, I realize that. Generally in that case I'd do what I did with your submission and include shots of the spells being used.

Actually that wasn't me. Someone else linked those there. I didn't submit any screenshots other than the title screen.

Yeah, I threw those on there. Please include screenshots in any future submissions.

Nice to see this officially released.

I slept through it, the fireworks woke me up.

Heh, that's a pretty big mistake, but an easy one to make if the weapon/armor type data is still hardcoded. Once again one hand didn't know what the other hand was doing.

This is something I've wanted to do for a long time. I had hoped to have it out in time for Christmas, but I held it back to fix a few bugs and spice up a few action blocks.

My guess is the palettes are in the same location in all versions, all of the data seems to be in the same place except for anything that was mixed in with code. I know I've edited the palettes in both FF4 and FF2us but I don't have any offsets on hand.

I could probably recolor it for you but not tonight, I've got some other things I want to get done.

I'm not much of a Blink fan (especially when it will cost a bit less to cast Blink individually)...

It's multi-target Blink, if that wasn't clear. The original spell is underused because it's only single target, but making the spell multi-target would be way too overpowered for my tastes. At least with Asura the randomness makes up for that.

I made improvements to Asura in my hack too. The Protect spell was replaced with Blink, and the Life spell was replaced with a spell that restored a tiny amount of MP.

This sounds pretty cool. I was planning on making a similar change for my enhancement hack, but I ended up scrapping the four extra summons and replacing them with different ones.

Merry Christmas, guys. I had hoped to have a hack to release today, but a number of simple-yet-annoying-to-fix bugs cropped up at the last minute. I also haven't heard a word from my second tester, and I was really interested in what he had to say about it. I'll probably have it ready for release soon.
