New ROM map
« on: February 16, 2015, 04:20:38 AM »
Digitsie and I have been discussing the need for a community-driven ROM map page for the wiki. I think it's a good idea to have a page where anyone can chip in and contribute. I see some of you have been adding things to my own ROM-overview page. I very much appreciate your help, but I wanted to administrate that page myself as it is part of my hacking docs collection. Thus, I started a new page.

http://slickproductions.org/slickwiki/index.php/FF5_ROM_map

All the information from the old ROM overview has been copied over. Change everything as you please, since you may need to reformat it to include the information on offsets changed by the various patches.

Ok, thank you. I'll be adding new info there soon.
In addition to this, maybe it would be interesting having a 'root' page displaying all the content available in the wiki isn't it?
The main link to "Wiki!" redirects to http://slickproductions.org/slickwiki/index.php/Main_Page but there isn't any other link in that page.
Could you edit that page to add links to every relevant wiki page (./FF5_ROM_map, ./Final_Fantasy_V_Hacking, etc...)?

Sure, I'll add some links. You can reach the ROM map page in "FF5 hacking" under "Collaborations".

I've started adding some information to the C1 bank, which mostly handles animation.  I'll be slowly adding to it when I have time, since there's a lot there.

Great. I don't know if this can help you but I did a disassembly of the C1 bank some time ago trying to keep separated ASM and data.

Give it a try. Maybe you'll find it useful.

You could also open a new page and move the data I found using your "menu windows" doc.

I'll take a look at it, but I don't think it will surprise anyone to know I have a decompiled C1 as well.

I'm not the most savvy when it comes to editing wikis and the like; I'll have to think about how to present some of the information and possibly make separate pages clarifying some of it.  For example, the battle animation code is kind of scattered around (as you can kind of see) and putting it in order makes it clearer, even if the addresses aren't sequential.
