Header or No-header

:omghax:

With the FF3/6 patches, what's the difference between the header and non-header .ips patch files?

Being 512-bytes off is not what you want.

The difference is almost non-existent. A header is simply 512 bytes that comes before the actual rom. They'll either be copier headers (used for copiers on the hardware) or NSRT which has info about the rom that the emulators do use. Neither are needed. However, us FF6 patch makers feel like making it as easy on everybody as possible.

Basically, apply the patch to the rom you have. Simple, yes?

NSRT which has info about the rom that the emulators do use.

Emus ignore the header by design. If the emu pretends it doesn't exist, it will cause massive fail.

I just remember some of the patches seemingly not working for whatever reason. I wasn't sure if it's the headers or if some are just incompatible with each other. (which I hope not. I want almost all of 'em. :D)

I redownloaded all of 'em.

I could've sworn a couple of your last ones had no/header patches as well. Maybe I'm thinking of ZED or Imzog?

The biggest problem at the time was I had no internet to get the alternate versions because to save harddrive space I deleted the alternate version of every patch. I haven't tried patching any of them yet because my mouse is crap and I need a new one.
Anyone else get those mouses that end up randomly not clicking with randomly double, triple and sometimes quadruple clicks per single physical touch of the button?

Lenophis: nope on mine.  Imzo offered both on at least a couple of his patches, so you're probably thinking of him.
