Tales of Phantasia (GBA)
Just about to go raid the Morlia Mineshaft Extension in the future. I beat the colosseum beforehand, so Cress is about 30 levels higher than everyone else. I think I'll kill him off for the entirety of Morlia and try to get my characters up-to-date. Hopefully they'll be near his level by the time I get to Pluto; I hear he's nigh-impossible without Demon Fang in this version...

it's not quite a mid-game progress update, but i've been playing super metroid: eris the last couple days, and finally beat it, 6:56/88%.  it got released a little bit early, and the design is really pretty incredible.

anyone who's a fan of sm should really  check it out.

Sounds interesting. What's the difficulty like? I don't really like uber-challenge hacks, but if it's within a normal range of difficulty I'd like to play it (normal range as in, generally playable without save states).

definitely normal range.  give it a shot, if nothing else for how creative and awesome the scenery is.  it gets even better as you progress,  some of the stuff near the end is gorgeous.  maybe i'll make a quick video demonstration of what i mean...

:edit:
went to do a bit of recording, and now that i've upgraded my system, camtasia works like absolute shit and slows down my entire system. ah well.

Ok... Dragon Warrior III is on hiatus, because I found another gem to play. It's name, even in death, is called Star Ocean (SNES.)

I'm saved up right before the Velcant boss. He's kickin' my toosh all over the battlefield, so... I guess I'm going to have to do some level gaining.  :bah:

I'll post character sheets and what not tomorrow ::if i remember to read this thread tomorrow, which I've been fairly consistant at::  :shadow:

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (Wii)
I planned on doing a summery of the three new tales, but I'm starting to feel awful again (I've been sick since Monday morning), and just don't want to right now.

Anyway, I finished all three tales, and thankfully none of them were really disappointing like Yang's was. Edward's was the least enjoyable, and Golbez's the Lunarians' was probably the most fun.
:edit:
Completely finished Golbez's Tale. His challenge dungeon is easily the shortest of them all - there are only three screens total! I reached the level cap with both characters. Strangely, Fusoya caps at 40, while Golbez can go up to 45. None of the other characters were like that, but I haven't hit the caps in Porom or Edward's tales yet.

I played a bit of Porom's challenge dungeon, and I don't really like it. The monsters are overpowered for the level my party is at, and the treasure at the end gets better based on how many people you help in a certain time limit. It's not exactly a ripoff of Rosa's trial in the GBA version though, since Porom's MP and supplies are actually consumed when using them.

I finished Edward's challenge dungeon, his was a bit better than Porom's, but I really prefer the "pure" gameplay that most of the other tales offered. His is based around getting gil, and using it to "buy" the chest at the end of the game. You find gil the normal ways, plus there are some key items to find that you can sell to various NPCs. Annoyingly, any gil you find in the dungeon gets taken from you after leaving, so you're just as broke coming out as going it. I'm hoping the cap in this one is 25-30, because I already finished this, and I just don't see it being all that much fun to do again. Those damn nameless guards are in the party stealing EXP from Edward and Harley, so they better show up in the final tale. I'd kill them off but the monsters are just too strong to not have them fighting...

Speaking of that, the same thing is true for Porom's challenge dungeon. She's stuck with the nameless white and black mages, plus Kain's dark side who will definitely not be appearing...bad design here, really.
Star Ocean: The Second Story (PS)

Now that I actually have the game, I can go through it again! I started a new game on Rena's side, on earth difficulty. I got as far as Alan's dungeon before saving and quitting. More to come later.

Final Fantasy IX (PS)

Likewise, I started a new game of this as well, and got as far as the Ice Cave before turning it off. It's actually going to be hard to play due to the state of my TV. In any event, more to come later!

119 bugs fixed and counting.

Star Ocean - Been put on hiatus for now... I have something better going on at the moment...

Mega Man X Trilogy for the SNES!

Yesterday, with a little help from good 'ol Lenophis, I was able to beat Mega Man X, and now I'm on my way to beating Mega Man X2. These are the bosses I have beat.

Flame Stag
Wire Sponge
Bubble Crab
Wheel Gator

What I'm trying to do is beat as many bosses as I can with as many powerups I can find without missing out on fighting the Zero part bosses. I can't seem to find all the powerups, due to the fact that I'm playing Mega Man X2 for the first time ever. Wish me luck...

I finished ToP GBA. Much better script than DeJap's when fixed. They're about equal when it's not though.

Also, I started Secret of Mana again. This time, I put thought into my characters' names...for the first time since I started FF1 NES. Mattyu, Esther, and Shefro are my teammates' names. Yay.

I just rescued Flammie and I'm off to...somewhere. I think it's the quintessential desert town.

Drakkhen (SNES)

Just got the 8th tear and went to the island's center to beat the game and watched the ending.  Probably won't pick this game up again for another 3-8 years.  lol

My next game is Mystic Quest.

Final Fantasy III (NES)

Finally finished the game I started on my Famicart...two years ago? Something like that, anyway. Now that the end of the game is fresh in my mind, I'm going to play through the same part of the DS version and see how it compares.

 :edit:

Yeah, the DS version got it right or better in every case. You can actually Teleport out of these dungeons now, magic is actually useful, and monsters get more than one attack per turn so they don't just sit there and die like the original. I had forgotten how fast the framerate was in this one compared to FF4...be careful what you wish for; I'm guessing it runs so fast and holds so well because of the lower poly character models and limit of three monsters per battle. Of course they actually put a little effort into the Cloud of Darkness battle in this one, too, which is always nice.

Final Fantasy XII (PS2)

I'm in between making videos of this, with leveling.

Unlocked all 5 hp +'s for a mark that's really hard for my level that's avaliable right now. :/ Anyway The place in the screen shot is good for leveling the current room - Primary Tank Complex has 80 (86 one time) of the same enemy (watch out for the elemental monster here, it won't attack, but don't use any type of magic around it). The two other rooms i use to complete the circle are Central junction and  Platform 2 - Refinery in the Ogir-Yensa Sandsea, monster respond every 3 rooms, so these 3 are connected in a circle and will with each monster dead 100 + per circle or more. Watch out for the same elemental in Central Junction and if you do the rooms in a particiular order you'd get a rare enemy that will count as part of the chain, the order is Central Junction, Primary Tank Complex and Platform 2 - Refinery, watch out for it's try attack and water spout, and when it gets to flashing red it will do constant pummeling on  you.

Have fun. Good for maxing out your license grid when you get the 2x LP accessory.

 :edit:

Hmmm.....

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (Wii)
The month is slipping away fast again, and unlike the previous months, I actually need to have these tales finished by the time the next one comes out. I was working on Edward's last night, and thought I'd finally max out at level 30...only to find I was still gaining experience. This is not fun; this is torturous. I sure hope I don't need to get him all the way up to level 40... The EXP gained in this tale, even with the arm gear that makes you gain 1.5x the normal amount, is just too low to put up with that. The only redeeming thing is that it's really easy to get the best treasure each time through this one, and have gotten some decent pieces of armor so far.

Porom's tale, on the other hand, has no redeeming qualities to it. I've only get her and Kain up to level 28, and I'm really hoping they cap at 30, but I doubt it. Again, the EXP totals are just too low, getting up to 40 is going to take forever. This was not a problem with any other tale. Porom also has a very annoying challenge dungeon, which is only two maps, loaded with monsters that are actually pretty strong and idiots who steal all of your healing items. I would've been very happy getting Golbez up to level 60, because his dungeon was actually fun, as short as it was. These "games" they make you play in Porom and Edward's dungeons just ruin them for me.
