Title: Normal vs. Lunar Enemy Battle Scripts
Post by: Phoenix on May 26, 2008, 04:53:01 AM
I thought I'd write this down for people that haven't read some of the other threads that have this information. Enemy battle scripts are loaded from two different places in the ROM depending on the current location map. I did some quick tests, and it appears that the only maps that use the "Lunar" enemy scripts are the Lunar Subterrane maps and the Cave Bahamut maps. All others, including the moon surface and lunar paths, load from the normal enemy scripts.

Hmm, all those maps are located at the end of the list, I wonder if it just checks if the map number is above a certain value?

I thought that too, but I tested the maps in-between the Cave Bahamut and Lunar Subterrane maps (Lunar Path, Lunar Lair, Hummingway Cave) and they don't load from the lunar enemy scripts. It probably does two checks: one to see if the map number is between 5A and 5C (Cave Bahamut) and one to see if it's between 67 and 7C (Lunar Subterrane).
