He also has access to Dark Knight Cecil's Darkness command which would make sense because he's from Baron.

Well I don't think Baron would have much to do with it, the Dark Knight Corps is a group of specially chosen people who can resist the Dark Sword.

What would make sense is acknowledging Baigan taking after his father who was a renowned Dark Knight (since he is now Rosa's Brother) since Rosa takes after her mother who was a well-known White Mage.

True, but I remember an NPC saying that the King was forcing all of the soldiers to use the Dark Sword. Also, I might do something like what you described.

Also, Rosa's father wasn't a Dark Knight, he was a Dragoon. http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Rosa#Final_Fantasy_IV

...Hah. What's the old saying "the mind sees what it chooses to see"? I looked around for some translation that mentioned Rosa's Father as a Dark Knight, but everyone I found just says "Knight", I guess I assumed it was Dark Knight and not a Dragoon, but since that's called a Dragon Knight in Japanese it would make sense that it would be a "Knight" as well.

My mistake then.

You are also right about the villager, but it wasn't in regards to forcing soldiers to use the dark sword. It was that the King was even allowing them to use Dark Swords, here's the literal line from master translator Tomato: "In Japanese, it?s more like, ?Teaching soldiers the way of the Dark Sword! Just what is the king thinking?!?"

Ah, my mistake. Also, I'm going to make someone say that Baigan's grandmother was a powerful Dark Knight second only to the King in terms of power because it IS canon the King is a Dark Knight, heck, he's freaking Odin. XD

I like the idea of a female Dark Knight, even if it is just backstory it is still quite rare in the series in total. On King Baron you also can steal the Darkness Augment from Odin in FFIV:DS so clearly he was a Dark Knight in life.

I knew that lol.

Also, I'm giving Kain some basic White Magic that he starts out with and he never learns any more. The only reason I did this is basically to give him back the White Magic command he had in early screenshots.

Indeed, I did very much the same with Combat Boost, except he also learns Dragon Magic and he gains his abilities by subduing Dragons. I took the inspiration from, as you said, the beta and from FFIV:TAY where he gets White Magic eventually.

It's still a WIP, but he has a playable beta (complete up to the first venture to the Underworld) - and a very thorough explanation of the custom commands - here.

Hmmm, I know this is much a little much to ask, but could you make me a patch that only has Dragon Speech and the Dragon Magic? I'd love to use that in my hack.

You're in a bit of luck, I made a separate patch for Dragon Magic a long time ago as it was one of my larger hacks I had suspected that people might be interested in it.

http://slickproductions.org/forum/index.php?topic=1883.msg20279#msg20279

Do be aware that the ROM must be unheadered and is 1.1.

Please read in detail all that this patch effects, for what its worth it tried to be as non-invasive as possible while still supplying people with a testing ground for Dragon Magic.

Also NOTE that is replaces Recall.

And as always, make a backup before using.

Welp, there goes that idea. I'm using a version 1.0 rom for my hack because I want to be able to use FF4kster with it.

...FF4kster only works with 1.1, hehe. It's 1.0 where problems crop up as I recall correctly. Believe me I would not have based so much work on 1.1 if it was incompatible with FF4kster.

Oh, I guess I must have gotten them confused or something. XD

Also, my rom is headered. So, if you could make a headered version of that patch, that'd be great. XD
