Yeah, Meltdown is easily the best healing spell in the game, I can't think of one time I got to the end of the game and didn't have the equipment necessary to heal my entire party with it. Now if he was ranting against Tornado he might have something, the spell is just worthless to me...

This command has always seemed worthless to me, in the time it takes for him to get a single, double powered hit you could have just hit twice.

Thought you might find this interesting, in the DS version Kick does take elements into account and executes much faster, it makes Yang into even more of a killing machine even though his normal attacks seem a bit nerfed in that version.

I have no idea, Odin has always been a mystery to me. His annoying disappearing is a part of his spell animation and not a part of his effect, if you make him a normal damaging spell he will still do damage regardless of whether he shows up or not.

Reflected spell attacks can target the user while in Jump status, although this will fail miserable

Just curious, but what makes you believe this?

Fight an EvilMask, have Kain jump, and wait for it to cast Nuke--Occasionally the background effect will show and the sound will play but not the actual spell animation or effect.

General Discussion / Re: Original Fantasy Map Design
« on: February 04, 2008, 06:53:06 AM »
I want to ditch the above system and go with something easier for mapmakers to use.  What would make the most sense?  Do I keep a list in each map of "special" tiles and their functions?  Is there an even better way?

Another thing to note are forced battle tiles.  If I keep these in a list instead of tying the data to the tile, I could make these forced battles occur only once (I might even change most of these to monster-in-a-box-style battles, always thought it was lame that you could skip the battles by clever chest-opening).

Perhaps this comes from my background using RPG Maker but it would make a lot more sense to me to store doors and chests as events, rather than having a ton of each, FF1 was very...strange in that regard.

ah, thanks for the info on IE.

yeah, that FireFox screen is screwy.  did it fix itself after a refresh?  and i see the "Super Secret Hideout" isn't very well-traveled. :P

No, it's still the same, even changing themes doesn't fix it.

Edit: Actually, this seems to apply to any translucent image, I just noticed that the "glowy" image drawn over tabs when you hover over them is messed up at times as well, especially if I move my cursor right when it's being drawn.

also, can somebody upload a screenshot of what the main forums page here is supposed to look like?  i get different results in IE6, Opera 7, and FireFox, so i really haven't a clue.  for all i know, this place has dancing hamster wallpaper, your username isn't even "Dragonsbrethren", and the lot of you are really discussing baked goods recipes despite all the posts i supposedly see mentioning "ROMs".

Here it is in IE7, which is the same as it looks in Firefox normally, except I got the screenshot before my avatar finished loading.

Edit 2: Clearing my cache didn't work but restarting did? Oh well, I'm just glad it's back to normal.

no, though i've only used Firefox on these forums like once.  and it's hard to tell exactly what's happening there, given you decided to upload a midget image. :P

I've got it uploaded at full size here. I guess I should have linked to that in my first post instead of the half-sized jpeg.

at any rate, that still looks better than trying to view the Purple scheme in IE6: you get purple text on a purple background, making it nearly unreadable.

Yeah, I should really do some sort of CSS workaround to make this place look better in IE6. If it wasn't for the stupid way CSS handles giving an element opacity this would be a non-issue, it's the fact that I'm stuck using translucent PNGs for the table backgrounds that's causing it to look like garbage in IE6.

Speaking of blue fire, Blaze's unimaginative name in Easy Type is "Blue Flame."

1646
I think you'll like my hack, Rosa and Rydia get much better armor selection now, including the ability to equip a few shields without having to abuse the steal glitch.

1647
Back when all I had to go on was FF2us I assumed the "D." stood for Dragon, but the attack name is Dark Breath.

1648
I see no reason to doubt Entroper's list, they probably did make some changes (Giant's Gloves on Rydia never made much sense to me). My list is consistent between all the SNES versions.

Hmmm, I never really thought of the crystal being a Darkness attack (although, stupid Golbez/Cecil confuses the issue).

Yeah, Zeromus's transformation is triggered by being hit with the dark element.

Just checking, but this entire list includes FF4A right? It's relative to what I need to know.
I get the strange feeling that Darkness elemental resistance is useless on the Vishnu Vest.

As far as I know nothing was changed in FF4A, so this should still be relevant. I wouldn't doubt it a bit if they gave you a useless resistance, that's just the way FF4A is.

You know that's just evil. That's just as fucked up as Blaze is (I had a tough time at one point in my mind to register that as an Ice attack).

Perhaps why they localized Blaze as "Frost" in FF5A.

Not the version I have. The older public version is here, it has most of the same things, just a clunkier interface and an increased chance of corrupting your ROM if you edit the wrong things with it.

If you want to use it with FF4 or Easy Type make sure your ROM is unheadered, FF2us opens headered or unheadered. The item tables crash if you try to view them in FF2us 1.1.
