The SF (SNES) system of course.

Doesn't even look that different.  I was expecting something, excitingly different.

pretty cool that...
shadow/ronin can attack 4 times and steal! you made some very cool changes here!

Shadow always needed something a little "extra".
you're as good a person to ask as any, jce; why can't make pray cast black magic or ninja magic? i understand that summons are out of the question, because you can't target yourself, but why won't a spell than can target the party work? the prayer works, but just fails.

I'm not sure.  There's probably an assembly routine that dictates the effects of this command.  Otherwise I'm sure its just more likely to be a simple heal command.

I don't get it.

Health may rock now but it doesn't really get as good as Cure3.  But wait later in the game when you have no MP to cast Cure3 and Health is all you have...you'll be thanking me for it.

at this point, is the area data sufficiently documented that new areas can be added to the game(vs. editing an already-existing area), or is that still an impossibility?

guy starts with a lucky knife. lucky my ass, 25% hit rate!

glad to hear that there's a decent amount of new content.  i thought the new stuff in ff2 was added flawlessly, so i'm curious to see how well ff3's new content blends in. btw, speaking of new content, i never got to say anything, but i loved those un-named yellow and green robots in the last lunar core level in ff2. i figured i would hit one with lit3, and BAM! globe199!  :omg: :wtf: cool stuff. also, i thought the blue-ish clear retweaked behemoths were pretty neat. were those based off of the "wicked mask(name?)" creatures?

Yes, "EvilMasks" were moved to the final floor.  The Lucky Knife does deal a decent amount of damage--if you hit something with it.  lol

Spoiler tags are preferred.

I didn't take offense to your statement.  I was just messing around.

That castle was going to be a new area but no one coded an area editor and or the area data wasn't fully decoded at the time of the hack.

Some monsters drop items at an accelerated rate--I give you plenty of oppertunity not to die.

Subwoofer was more of a joke name--you'll see a few of those.  Just wait until you find/use the "Lucky Knife".

This hack is probably more "fun" to mess around with than FF2usHT due to there just being more content.

*cough*DKK and I had alot to do with that too you know.   :cycle:

Sure, some say the FF3usHT is a bit more thorough in me not having as many bugs and or oversights.

The best ASM tool is infact the SNES9x tracer that EvilPeer/Geiger wrote.  And there are quite a few people here who are pretty proficiant in ASM that cna help you.  I'm a noob at assembly.

*I went ahead and changed the topic title to reflect FF3usHT playthrough.

What was he like the first time when you died?  And thanks for the kind words.

Since you're a programmer if you can get the hang of rom hacking maybe you can make a full fledged editor for FF4/2us.

wait a second, where did i get a suit of adamant armor and an adamant shield from? did i win those in that lord j battle also? i just noticed them in my inventory.

edit: wait a second, an adamant helmet and gauntlets, too? this is pretty cool.

edit2: just did a ton of armor shuffling.  all 5 of my guys are definitely ready for zeromus now.

cain has: holy spear, adamant shield, helmet, and armor, and gigas glove
rydia has: comet, ribbon, black robe, and rune ring
james has: ragnarok, dragoon helmet, strength armor, and adamant gauntlet
rosa has: reviver, ribbon, minerva robe, and rune ring
edge has: katana and murasame, ninja helmet and robe, and a genji gauntlet

i need edge's other sword, and i'm all set.  the party has an average level of 55.   :cycle: :cycle:
Beating me (JCE3000GT) earns you the Adamant equipment.  The JCEmedal was a badge showing that you beat me--and I was going to code another secret event for that item but never got around to it.
Mind if I ask the game time you're at?  And the gametime you fight Zeromus at?

that was pretty good trick with the 2 ribbons.  i killed the 2 plagues without too much trouble.  then, i walked up to a ribbon chest, expecting to just grab them and go.  the pack of 3 lunarsaurs(lunar dragons?)  placed in each chest was a good thought. i ended up almost dying at the first chest, because just cecil and cain were (partially)alive, but were both cursed.

edit: btw, what does their "breath" attack do?  it's never affected me in all the battles that i've been in against them.

Surprise!  hehe

Oh, and I forgot what that attack did to be honest.

that's pretty interesting.  thanks a lot for the clarification.

also, jce,  i found the sorcerers in the lunar palace at the hp recovery tile. any reason why they just attacked themselves for 9999 instead of fighting me? i take it that that was on purpose?

edit: are there more monster attack tiles around outside of that one? did you replace all of the random findable stuff like that with monsters?

edit2: btw, how is ffiv revolutions coming along?

FF4-R is on hold until I get some things sorted out--like my car project and now my new place to live.  I estimate sometime this summer before things calm down a bit so I can return to my projects.
