Title: FF1 Patch - Grammar Cleanup
Post by: vivify93 on August 20, 2011, 05:49:28 AM
This is a small patch that cleans up the grammar of Final Fantasy and puts the majority of its ALL CAPS TEXT in proper case, with a few minor bonuses. No bugs are fixed.

...Yes, it was really necessary to all caps that.

This is largely untested, but I highly doubt that this contains anything game-breaking. I won't be providing any screenshots due to the nature of the patch, and the name I'd like to be credited as is rotschleim.

Thanks and have a great day!

EDIT: Now at v0.1a to fix that issue and one more. This should be the last version unless I get bug reports from enthusiasts.

EDIT2: Now at v0.1b to revert class names and fix the stupid Clinic text that I forgot about...

What are "the few minor bonuses"?

EDIT: I modified the font a bit, but not by much. Most noticeably, the ellipsis character now touches the bottom of the font tile like it should. The next one is stated in the readme.

- Changed the effect of five spells.
HEL2: Now has a base of 24 in battle. Take that, cheaters! :p
QAKE: Now an earth-elemental damaging spell with a base of 40 that hits all enemies.
BANE: Now a poison-elemental damaging spell with a base of 30 that hits all enemies.
SABR: Still broken, but now has a base of 14 and acts like multi-target TMPR.
LOK2: Still broken, but now it should lower evasion if you choose to fix it.

I figured having QAKE, BANE, XXXX, ZAP!, BRAK, and RUB all as instant death spells was overkill. So instead of six, now there's only four.

EDIT2: Actually, don't submit this at all--there was a font bug that I just realized. The tiles that make up the word "sleep" are supposed to be in lowercase because it spells "Asleep," and right now it looks like it says "ASleep".  :lame: I'll upload a new version in the first post as v0.1a.

EDIT3: This is the most edits I've had to do in a long time! :childish: v0.1a has been uploaded.

Reverted the upgraded class names and squashed the second-to-last instance of ALL CAPS TEXT. v0.1b is in the first post.

Um, I noticed Jorgur's patch was added the site and mine wasn't. Do different people update the databases for different games? Or is this because earlier I said "don't submit this at all?" I'm sorry if I didn't clarify, but I only meant that for a previous version. The one that's in the first post is ready to be uploaded now.

1) If you paid attention to the dates, you would've noticed that the last bundle of stuff was updated on the 13th. You made this thread on the 20th.
2) I tend not to do things right away for exactly what you did in this thread. I'd rather not update several times in a few days.

:isuck: I'm sorry. That was incredibly rude and unobservant of me. Thank you and I appreciate you considering uploading this even after my blunder.
