I tried submitting it on that site and they rejected it due to being a "sprite only" hack. Not sure where else I'd host it, I'm not so familiar with hacking sites. I did put it on mediafire though, along with making a version of the hack that works with the Japanese rom (since the portraits/palettes are located differently, the normal patch doesn't work).

Link with the US and Japanese version of the hack: http://www.mediafire.com/?j5ykuwy8nsa6l0b

Probably not. I doubt I'd have the time to go through them, and for the most part they're close enough that I don't think many people will mind. I mean, even in the original SNES version, Galuf's overworld sprite was different from his battle/menu sprite, I figure people can handle that things are slightly different here and there. It's when Faris is blonde with a manface and Lenna looks like she's melting that there's a problem haha

Fixed the problem and I've updated the patches that I attached in this thread. The problem was that I didn't use an original file for the patch, but rather one of my early test files where I was working on Galuf's portrait.

4
Can you be more specific about the problem with Galuf's portrait? I want to make sure I have any issues dealt with before the patch is spread around.

Edit: I see what you mean. I'll see what I can do about it. It looks like the palette isn't replacing and partway through the portrait, it's stopping the replacement. Other portraits seem to be ok so far, I'm looking through different parts of the games in save states.

All done! I've attached the .ips file, I don't know if there's a better way to distribute the hack, but if anyone can think of one, let me know. Give it a try!

Finished! Well, I still have to make the patch itself, but from what I understand it's rather simple.

Well good thing you like them because I spent the last two days cramming to get their small resolution portraits done!

Just gotta hack them in now, and at this rate the patch will be ready by tomorrow night.

Real quick, here's a couple Gilgameshes.

And Exdeath (decided to draw him anyway, basically copying the old portrait but updating the style.

Still looking for input, until then I'll work the others into the code.

Drew Kelger and Xezat. I'm pretty happy with how Kelger came out, though I can't decide between two styles of clothes. Leaning a little towards the left one, but I need more input.

And Xezat, which seems alright. Not as good as Kelger's, I feel, but acceptable enough. The idea was that he's kind of a joker like Galuf, but keeping his sacrifice in mind, I can't make him too goofy looking.

Ah, I wanted to maintain loyalty to the sprites, otherwise I probably would've. Mid's original portrait makes me want to punch him and take his lunch money.

Cid and Mid, what do you think?

Haven't forgotten, just haven't had any time, sadly. My schedule will change this summer and I will have loads of time then, so if I haven't finished by then, I will definitely be able to just crank the rest of it out.

Just to give you an idea, I really only need to draw and hack in Cid, Mid, Xezat, Kelgar, and Gilgamesh. Exdeath's portrait is going to be left as-is (at least for now) since it looks just like his battle sprite.

Alright, been pretty busy but I did manage to squeeze some time in to try some things with King Tycoon.

What do you think? It's definitely more majestic, and he actually has a neck. The hard part about working on these so long is that I get so used to staring at them that I can't tell what's good or not. It's like saying the same word over and over until it feels weird. Basically I have to stop working on the picture for a while and come back with a fresh perspective because I forget what it looks like. Anyway, I tried this one at the proper size and it seems pretty good, so even if you feel it's "good but not great" I'll probably go with it and maybe someday later try to tinker with it.

Hmm I see what you mean. I'll keep trying more things, including a touch-up like yours. I probably should give him a neck, if not adjust his armor to make him look more majestic. So far this has been the hardest portrait haha.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Looking at my drawing now, it looks too much like the ActRaiser guy, and not really King Tycoon. I left his eyes exposed because his sprite has them shown, but I agree with the bit about the ruins. That sort of mysterious vibe you get from him is definitely a good part of the mood when he shows up, so I'll try changing it.

edit: how's this?
