Final Fantasy V Research & Development / Re: A question about Job editting

Are these addresses for an unheadered ROM, for the SNES version?  I could whip something up in a few days, maybe..
Yes, and yes.

I made a savefile with the dungeon statistics cleared (see my first post).

This is a truly great hack. It has some flaws, I'll admit, but the concept of an FF5 random dungeon crawler is just brilliant. My strategy is to rely on potions for the first stages, and then move on to use Animals and Terrain (Beast and Gaia). In the later stages I use DragonSwd (Lance), Psych (Osmose) and Mysterious Waltz to maintain my MP supply.

http://slickproductions.org/docs/FF5/jobs%20and%20abilities.txt

The engine allows for more, but some work is required. You have to change the 1st ability pointer table, Number of abilities per job and Job levels.

I believe the GoodSNES set has not been updated after the release of the SD3 3-player patch. There is no such file in my ROMset, which is GoodSNES v2.04 (latest version; released October 2004).

I have the IPS patch if you need it.

Sounds really cool, do you have a link?

 :edit:
I made a savefile with the dungeon statistics cleared, so you can view your personal records.

I had a project similar to this back in 2008-2009.
You might want to check out my old docs. They are based on the SNES version, but much of the data also applies to FFVA.

Good luck!

Probably not. I doubt I'd have the time to go through them, and for the most part they're close enough that I don't think many people will mind. I mean, even in the original SNES version, Galuf's overworld sprite was different from his battle/menu sprite, I figure people can handle that things are slightly different here and there. It's when Faris is blonde with a manface and Lenna looks like she's melting that there's a problem haha
LOL, yes, I can only agree with this. For me, the characters are represented by their sprites, not portraits.
Anyway, good job with this! Hacks like these are hardly ever finished, but this project has had steady progress all the way, for the most part. I hope you do release it on RHDN or some other larger site, because it won't get much attention if it only stays here.

I tried the patch, and...it made me laugh at first. Then I thought they actually look pretty good. I feel these laid back, classic SNES style portraits fit the theme surprisingly well. I think I'm going to use this patch from now on. :)

:edit: Something is wrong with Galuf's portrait...

I am eagerly waiting for an update on this. Did you go through the DVD yet?

I am still hoping this could be finished. It would be extremely useful in order to see the different endings.

I am not sure if there is an editor for that, but you can do it with a hex editor. The information is available on this board, but it was never documented.

Yes! I am definitely interested.

Anything related to FF5, especially the historic translation project, is welcome here.

Here are the icons that were changed (not added) by RPGe.

By the way, I am looking for the first version of RPGe's translation. If anyone has the raw IPS, or a patched ROM, please let me know.

I could probably whip up a portrait editor if you provide the technical info. I would also like to know how to remove the portraits, so I could insert that feature as well.
