I honestly can't remember if this was found before or not, I know JCE has it listed in his document but I don't remember if he had the offsets for it or not. All I know is I had no clue where it was stored anymore and planned on finding it eventually since I screwed around with starting levels.

Good find.

2. Rubicante counters any summon magic with Ice-2 on himself, not just Shiva.

Hmm... this isn't DS specific right? I'll have to try this.
It worked on the PSX version, I'm not sure about the SNES versions but I'd expect them to be the same.

Cagnazzo's turtle and shell forms are weak against ice, his tsunami form is weak against lightning. This was made much more obvious in FF4 DS where ice heals his tsunami form and lightning doesn't work nearly as good on his other forms.

Three related to Rubicante:

1. The Rubicante Edge fights solo is the same one the party fights, unlike the Golbez Tellah fights or the Zeromus Golbez and FuSoYa fight.

2. Rubicante counters any summon magic with Ice-2 on himself, not just Shiva.

3. Rubicante has a rarely seen ending message, to get it you need to get him under 1000 HP and have your next attack do less than that.

Good find. I noticed the Odin instant death counter but never figured out why it didn't trigger. I kind of like the battle the way it is in the final though, having him die instantly to lightning would've been pretty lame.

Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / Re: Metallic Oddities
« on: March 09, 2008, 04:43:56 AM »
I may be wrong on this, no scratch that, there's a 90% chance I'm wrong on this, but I think having a piece of metallic equipment on every character before the battle starts gets you an instant game over regardless if you have the TwinHarp or not. For some reason I remember this happening to me in the past, back when I was first playing the game. There's a good chance, however, that I just didn't have the TwinHarp and forgot.

I'm not sure what triggers the metallic paralysis in that cave but I always thought it would be cool to have another dungeon with that effect. I should look at the map headers and see if there's anything about it in there. I'm betting it's triggered by that event at the start of the cave or it's there from the start and removed by the TwinHarp event.

I've known about this for a while, the attack power comes from the first blank item slot and the evasion comes from the one after the arrows. If you give the first slot a name (Say Unarmed) it'll be used for any blank slots in your equipment.

Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / Re: Cockatrice Summon
« on: March 09, 2008, 04:32:35 AM »
Cockatrice would've been a useful summon if it actually multi targeted. I never understood why they cut it from FF2us and ET yet left the other optional summons in place, I could understand it if they had cut them all (It wouldn't make any sense but it would be consistent) but not just the one.

Ugh, well, I guess that makes sense. That also explains why Haste is a huge boost, and Slow is a massive penalty. I suspected the Plague hasting Haste on the entire party was to make the death countdown go faster, and this pretty much confirms it.

I pretty much agree here.  I'm strongly for the theory that Haste does indeed increase the speed of count.  I've casted Slow on one of my characters in said Plague battle and they counted down slower than the rest.
Same here, I used to use this strategy quite a bit before I realized it's really not needed, just a hold over from the days when I actually had to look at the menus to input commands.

Deathlike2: One thing you might want to look into for your documentation is how longer you can sit at 00 without dying. IIRC, it's a whole lot longer in FF2us than FF4.

Awesome find. Now I can make Libra work on bosses (Face it, it's pretty worthless on normal enemies no matter how clever I am with their weaknesses/resistances).

Game Modification Station / Re: (Another) FF1 Hack

Sounds pretty cool, I'll give it a try when I'm in the mood to play FF1. I'm actually in the mood to hack FF1 right now, I just don't have the time, I haven't even done much for PB in the past...uh, long time.

Where did you get the "real" names?
From the name of the spells those weapons cast.

1602
Bumping this off the second page so I remember  to test it later.

1603
The real name for it is Magic Arrow. I have no idea where RuneShot came from, probably one of the earlier FF4 translations.

I might as well list the others:

Staff: Poisona
Mythril Staff: Basuna
Dancing Dagger: Dancing Dagger (heh)

Indeed. One of the FAQs I read for the PSX version claimed that all the dark knight swords inflict silence when they hit. :lame:

There you go, a quick image of Sight's dummied effect.

Strange, I don't know where it's pulling that from. Maybe there's a separate list of animations for reflected spells? I think I would've noticed with the new spells in my hack though...I'll test later.

If you haven't guessed I didn't get a chance to make the patch yet, haven't even been on the computer more than a few minutes the past two days.
