Yes, but I'm already disappointed in it at the moment. A quick look at what was done is not entirely impressive.

awww, really? did they just change some of the sprites and call it a hack? is there much new(or at least ripped for former ffs) stuff?

btw, are you info ff1 at all? if so, you should try out grond's ff world of chaos++. copied from the description:

This is a semi-sequel (or more like an expansion pack) for my previous
hack, Final Fantasy ++ (so if you haven't played that, then you really
shouldn't be playing this). At any rate, this is quite a bit harder to
beat than FF++, so n00bs beware. Also, one can consider this sort of a
tribute to classic SquareEnix (the way they were...). It includes adap-
tations of various dungeons from FFs 3, 4, 5, & 6, SaGa 2 (a.k.a. FF
Legend 2), and Dragon Quest 5 (along with a couple of new ones by me).
And, of course, lots of classic FF enemies are here for you to battle.

i did exactly what he doesn't recommend and i started with this game using one of the pre-supplied saves. i'm at lv. 29 and still fighting semi-weak enemies to get stronger. he really did ramp up the difficulty, and it's cool to see all these dungeons/landmarks(cultists tower, ff5 pyramid, full-size copy of narshe, the party's airship is from ff4, the tower in the town of edo from ffl2, darryls tomb- just fought a giant from ff4) on the nes.  the guy did an amazing job on this, it's just really difficult. :)

Well.. there aren't that many item tweaks...

There are some sprite changes, with some AI changes to go with them. I'm sure I'll see more later on...

My biggest gripe is that there isn't enough outright radical changes.... which translates into "it's more of the same shit I've already played".

Also, I have played many FF1 hacks, and I love both of Grond's hacks (the original and expansion).. in fact, I've e-mailed the guy saying how I loved it (and asking about other stuff)...

Yeah, that's the problem with a lot of hacks of that sort, I can see leaving some things as they were (I've found myself doing that quite a few times in my FF4 enhancement) but it should feel...different when you're playing it, like JCE's hardtypes do. Just some quick (But thought out) stat changes are usually enough to do that, as is replacing some equipment with new, better equipment.

Also, I have played many FF1 hacks, and I love both of Grond's hacks (the original and expansion).. in fact, I've e-mailed the guy saying how I loved it (and asking about other stuff)...

I love FF++ but I've never managed to complete it, always get distracted by something else.

Progress:

Final Fantasy IV (NDS)

Just got Asura and Leviathan. Neither seemed very hard, I have a feeling I'll find the original game too easy after playing this one so much, but at the same time I'm really going to miss a few of these augments when they're gone...

For the record, if you know who's responsible for the Eternal Crystal Hack, feel free to point him here if you wish, but my gripe/bug list is building.

WTF??

WTFv2

This was the beginning of the end of my expectations:

Can we try to be more creative with the message?

No clue. I'd say post them at RHDN but the guy doesn't even have a forum account, doubt he'd see it there either.

I'll probably end up posting a link when the RDHN hack list is posted up (weekly right?) referring to the issues I have here... it would only be fair.

It doesn't look like the evade patch was used at all either...

Heh, I'm actually not sure how often it's posted. Don't think it's weekly, it's been more than a week since the last one.

:edit:

Googling the hack name only turns up RHDN, so apparently he hasn't posted it anywhere else. Googling "Metroid Quest" gives a ton of results for a NES Metroid hack by that same name; combing the two gets you the page at RHDN as one would expect. Absolutely no contact information in his profile so I guess you've just got to hope he's looking when you post it.

did your rom have a header, or no? i'd rather not play a little ways through and have to do it all over because i used the wrong one.

there's no readme or anything in the archive.

Actually, you should be able to find out pretty quickly if you patched to the wrong one or not. The monsters won't look right when patched to the wrong one.

119 bugs fixed and counting.

you'd think, but for some reason i screwed up jce's patch, another ff3 hardtype hack, and one other patch using the wrong rom, and i was able to play through narshe. in the first 2 cases, the game screwed up as soon as i left narshe.  in the third, i could walka round, but if i walked into figaro or got into a battle, the screen woulg go black. a readme with the patch would've been nice.

just making sure is all.

That hack needs a header...

When seeing if patches work.. you know something goes horribly wrong in battle more often than not.
